There are a number of different centres / ratios available for them, the most common 4 being 3.7, 3.9, 4.1 and 4.3.

however the ones out of T-18's will be either:

Series 1 T-18 = 3.9

Series 2 T-18 = 4.1

(i may have these mixed up)

My EPC says all T-18s have a 3.727:1 diff ratio...

The 2T-GEU equiped models had 4.1:1 diff I think.

The RA23 Celicas had a 4.1:1 diff ratio which is why a few of them are floating around.

Well, that lists TE71 not TE72. A big difference.

I know firsthand that they have different ratios.

It makes sense as well, as they both had different versions of the T50. I know for a fact that at a minimum the speedo drives are different.

My info says every T-18 has diff code T302, which is 3.727:1
And their speedo gears are 19:6 in the gearbox.
All, from August 1979 to May 1983.

The different versions of the T50 is to do with shaft and bearing sizes. The ratios are the same.

Speedo gears would be different due to different diff ratios.

S1 speedo cable + dash will not work in a S2 T-18 because they will not fit the speedo drive. Same goes the other way round.

So at the very least the speedo drive is different.

Which would denote some variation in the gearbox. i wasn't implying the ratios were different, however i'm 80% sure that the splines are different between S1 and S2.

I'm not saying you're books wrong, or even that i'm right, this is just in my experience / re-enforced by JHS's antics.

you could call JHS if you want 100% confirmation?

Nor do i, and i never have.

i've just spent too much time pulling diffs from pick-a-part, changing centers and working on JHS's T18s in the past.
