Looking at going 20V in the near future. At this stage I'm looking at running the standard ecu. Just wondering whats out there in regards to prefabricated airboxes for 20V.

Is it possible mod the standard airbox and make it work well?

and also you will have to run no filters which if you ask me is just stupid or foam filters which can be pretty restrictive.

Stoked..

I think I read somewhere a while back that a sensor had to be installed on the air box or something to retain the VVT? Or to allow a higher redline, can't remember..?

Help is really appreciated guys :2thumbs:

Also can I retain the bigport loom and still run the black top ecu? Or is it easier in the end to install the black top loom?

20v loom. you'll need all the VVT-i switch plugs and vaccum sensor etc.

road and track do good 20v airboxes for decent prices. they're well fabricated units, controlled volume etc.

Cheers guys.

But I will be going trumpets w/o filters now I know I can run stock ECU :greenbounce:

Next on the agenda is can I retain the SAFC that is currently in tune with the big port at the moment. May start another thread for that one.

None Taken... I just try and emulate Japan as close as I can.

Running no air filters on a sealed road is fine, because not many people here get 100,000km out of a motor anyhow. I have run my 2T-G with no filters on the gravel road, and on the sealed road for many months. It's not the best, but it does not distroy the motor right away.

why expedentially increase the wear on the engine when you don't need to? evan a pantyhose stretched over the intake would be a start

Cause I'm japcore.. I dunno lol is there going to being a noticeable difference in the induction sound? You said yourself Sam that the filters can be pretty restrictive.

Might do a back to back dyno with/without filters when I get a dyno tune with the SAFC

don't know if there would be a difference with and without the filters in terms of induction sound. If you run no filters then try and get a very fine mesh or something ok?
