Rightio,
I will be buying a Cusco 2 way LSD sooner or later to fit my T series. I have got the T series axles here, But I also have Tarago E series axles here aswell.
So i was thinking, could i get a standard Tarago diff centre, and take the spline out of it and set it into the Cusco LSD, Making me able to run Tarago E series axles in a T series housing?
Why bother doing this? The E series axles have been rumoured to be stronger than the T series ones, and I have axles sitting here, I may as well try and experiment a little bit with my t series etc.
Cheers
(if you want a better explanation just ask, it probably doesnt make any sense anyway haha)

Your best bet would be to PM Johnny Rochester (or just wait til he posts in here, it's inevitable).
I do believe that from what i read, it IS possible to get them to fit, but it is ALOT of work / machining, slightly different splines / thicknesses / lengths or something.
Best talk to him for details.

It is not going to be a dirrect fit. I don't know much about it or have a E axle here to check. Look at coversations about this also on toymods. Group-A cars are metioned as having a similar setup.
The only person that is going to do this for you is Terry from roadandtrack.com

You probably want to get your T series Cusco sidegears resplined to the E series spline, which is a bit different I'm told. This would be done with a broach and a press, and I think Terry would have the tool. Although I am guessing the gear has to be anealed then heat treated again after the machine work. You can't really use the Tarago sidegear as it does not have the other outer spline for the LSD plates.
You may then have to machine the axle for the T series wheel bearings to fit.
Basicaly anything is possiable. You just have to have all the bits laid out in front of your, and the machine tools to make it work, or money to pay someone.

In fact the E series tarago axles run the same wheel bearings as a T18.
So if you can recut the side gears from your LSD centre (which Terry from Road and Track apparently can) then you **should** be able to use the E series axle.
I say "should" because I have looked into this a bit and it seems like it would work, though I have never slapped it together myself.

What Hen says, The Bearing seems to fit fine, and is almost the same length. There is at least 5-10mm difference if that.
The only thing stopping me is the diff centre splines. I am pretty sure i counted 23 splines on the E series axle, and 25 on the T series. I really can't remember.
So, I guess its just not a matter of getting the two centres and swapping over the diff centre splines then?

Am on on the right track here? It's all a bit expensive for me to think about.

Nope, both T and E have 23 splines. E is annoyingly similar to Kouki T, but not close enough to use.
Recutting/broaching new side gears seems to be the only way to go. Could be expensive to do upfront, but then you have cheap, strong axles for the life of the diff.
