hey people was just wondering if the 4age alternators were the same as the 4agze alternators

No they aren't. 4agze's use an external regulator whereas 4age's are internal (it will say Regulator Built in on the sticker of the alternator).

All the ZE alternators I have seen (AE92 and AE101) have internal regulators. AW11 may be different though I would be suprised.
But they are different. ZE alternators are physically smaller.

I'm not 100% sure if the alternator on my 4agze was original, but it only reqired a few minutes with an angle grinder to make it fit the 4age brackets

All 4AGZE wiring harnesses i've seen have external regulator wiring and the same external regulator (even my ae101 loom was external, afm loom external- both aw11 and ae92).
That said, the engine I got came with an alternator with built in regulator, though i suspect it was changed when the factory wiring loom was hacked up (made it easy for me to wire though :))
