go gze bloc

i highly doubt a 4ac block could hold boost. I'm pretty sure 4ag blocks have much stronger internals
i should probably shut up and let one of the geniuses on here tell you the right statistical facts. Like jonny

wasnt usin internals, just bare block. that raises another question, which block is stronger 4ac, 4ag or gze?

They're not 'really' the same.

4AC block has the same main size bearings as the early 3rib bigport, but inferior metallurgy.

4AGE block 3 rib - same size main bearings as 4ac, slightly stronger / better metallurgy.

4AGE block 7 rib - Bigger main bearings

4AGZE - Bigger main bearings AND provisions for oil squirters

The metallurgy stuff is only what i've read, but it seems to hold true.

Makes sense. Over the xx amount of years the 4A was developed, I'm sure they would have improved the alloy over time, especially since they were making it more efficient, adding power, etc.

EXACTLY as javal said, if you were gonna put any more than 4-6psi into your block, you really need a 4age engine (with oil squirters) (rare as hens teeth I'm lead to belive)....or a 4agze (which already has it).

if you were to do this..

the most cost effective / easy wasy is to:

buy a 4agze (probably blown, if u know what ure doing).
assess damage, fix as nessacary (bore / grind etc) new rings...
take the blower off, sell it for coin...
buy a turbo manifold with small outlet pipes (higher velocity) (probably gonna need to be custom...those ebay ones look shitty. speak to Sam_Q...he knows his exhaust shit).
strap ya turbo on..
buy an oil cooler...
change your diff and gearbox..
oh...and change the ecu.

it will probably cost you around $2k - $2.5k i'd say...

good luck.

You've been lead falsely.

4AGE 20v's have oil squirters

All versions of the GZE have oil squirters

smallports have them too

and it WILL cost more than 2.5k.....

and a 4ac block will be fine for up to 20psi ;).....skid proven test have been conducted :)[/b]

Just gotta worry about BHG's and smashing the pistons into several pieces

all 7-ribbed blocks have them acording to bill sherwood. So smallports do have them

what an ugly duckling of the family.
haha..
yes, all 7 ribs should be fine...

2.5k will do it..
i could do it for 2.5k..
but i do everything myself.

ive had big port gze's with no oil squiters
never seen a big port gze with oil squiters
and have never seen gze 8.0:1 pistons with squiter cut outs
