to a certain extent.
you can put anything in anything these days, its just down to the dollar figure your wanting to spend.

Edit- hell LS1 into s13s etc etc

The 1G-GTE has been used in Sprinters a few times in Australia. A few were done years ago, mostly because 3S-GTEs cost alot more. But these were mostly 'show' cars from memory. The 3S-GTE is prefered, gives more room for pipe work etc.

So the RB20DET can be done, but get a tape measure and ask yourself where the radiator is going to go.

alota power?

if you are going to put an RB20 in a 86, might as well make it rb26

a CA can make the same power as an RB, with less mods to the chassis.

now all I'm going to here is oil returns and wa wa

there is a reason its pretty rare to find this done......

but would the RB26 fit ?

they are the same.......

put a single turbo on the 26 and it would be the same.

infact it would be better cause of the inlet manifold difference

Why would you want a RB20 in a ae86? the SR/CA is a crapload better

RB20 in a hachi (NOT 'HATCHI') = NO.

-Much heavier
-Much longer
these two will put alot of weight over the front wheels, causing it to understeer more.
-Limited scope for modification compared to the RB25 / RB26
-Engine bay will be tight
-Crappy turbo
-Little midrange
-Filthy nissan

If you're HELLBENT on putting an RB in your AE86, an RB25 would be SO much better, but RB26 would be best. Still. It'll handle alot worse than it would with a 3SGTE / 4AGTE / CA18 / SR20. Basically these are all better options.
