tyre pressure on stretch

I have 195/45's on 8's

On a standard tyre setup with a low tyre pressure the outer edges of the tyre would have greater wear than the centre

With a high tyre pressure you would have greater wear in the centre and less on the outer edges

Optimum tyre pressure at 32PSI has optimum even wear across the board


With a stretched tyre, at 32PSI, I would assume that because of the sidewalls angleing in it would induce a 'dip' in the centre of the contact surface similar to a low tyre pressure. I have increased my tyre pressure to 40PSI to combat this effect and to gain an optimum tyre wear.
Any comments?

i also figure that being able to use such an even higher PSI for a 'drift setup' pressure whilst also giving an extra hard tyre.
Apart from the dangers of beads breaking etc, it sounds ideal.
Any comments?

yeah i run 195/60 on 8's front and 8.5's rear. 40psi rear and 36 psi front

i am going to start running 25 psi

^^do u mean the tyres last longer on lower pressure? i though it was the higher the pressure the longer it lasts?

I use 34-36psi in my 215/45 on 17x9's and get fairly even wear considering neg and good ride with sharp response.

What pressure were you running when your tyre came off the bead on the Equips? If it was only 20psi then starts to make sense, I know when drifting the tyres will heat up and pressure will increase... or did you clip a kerb drifting to push it off the bead?

agreed...i had 20psi in my back to tyres (slow leak in both) pretty sure i could feel the rubber being dragged along....

back up to 34 or so, and my car feels 10x faster!! (and bumpier mind you)

20psi on track only. once they heat up the pressure rises.
with 160rwkw on 20psi a new pair of tyres has been lasting me a whole day.
where as on 35 psi i have had a new pair of tyres last me 2 sessions.

to an extent 20psi is a bit excessive. but it worked well.




nah dude when i had the 195s on the rear i was not running 20psi. worked out why tyre popped off bead.
it was to do with the modified valve.
i would not recomend running 195/50r15 streched over a 9" rim on 20psi

Maybe try a 205/50 with 28psi or so for more grip? Just a suggestion.

i have been using 15x9 with 205/50r15 tyre with about 23psi cold. awsome grip.
been keeping up with those 250rwkw nissans no worries haha.
