"lucky I'm stretch armstrong, bitch. Press these buttons..."

Hey,
I'm in the process of trying to put 195/50/15s on my 15x9 equips.
Some one who knows how to do it is comin over later (I hope) but while I wait I was gonna try myself.

Give us some tips :)

Damien.

Any Redlands dudes know how to do it come and have a beer and give us a hand.

i dont like the fire technique, ive burnt myself too many times! so i bought a beed booster, best $290 ive ever spent, its even got a remote solenoid so you can keep both hands on it! depending on the tyre and the rim design, tyre tubes can work really well also, just search in youtube youll find a few interesting vids of all techniques

what sortof propellent do you find the best?
We haven't got burnt yet, but we've used up some bottles of various things I found around the house, like deoderant and hairsparay.
I've heard work wheels are the hardest :(
Any way any more advice?

brake cleaner,and aerostart.

and rims with 'flat dish' vs. ones with stepped dish would seperate the easy from the hard imo, some flat dish wheels just inflate, we just chucked on some 225/40s onto a mates 18x10s, just inflated !!

agreed flat dish makes it so much easier, i have 15x9 stepped dish wantanbes i have to use a tyre tube for those thinking of buying a booster though it makes hard work still

Fuck ass.
Mines stepped like a cunt. The gaps between the rubber and the rim are massive. The tyre shop couldn't get it, we're just hoping we can fluke it.
Any ways, I got some one coming over who said they can / have done it so hopefully they can.

since we are talking about 195/50's ............. sorry Damian, bit of a hijack but savess me starting a new thread...

Can anyone tell me if I can use 195/50s that have been stretched over an 8" rim for the last 15 months on a 7" rim? I need some new tires for my daily and cant afford new ones at the moment, so was gonna remove the ones of the 8"s I have here and use on the 7"s.
Just thinking they may be no good as the sidewalls have been in that position for so long?

nah wil be fyne theyll flex back and youll be able to seat them on the 7" fyne, ive done that also used 195 from an 8" then put them on a 7"

I built my own..

Small compressor from super cheap.
A large ball valve and 2 sockets from hose suplier and abit of 2 inch exhaust pipe...

Works mint 195/50 onto a 10inch rim first time everytime.. :)

All up cost me $150 and abit of my time to make.... (was easy to make)

you slide the nozzle between the rim and tyre bead and pumps shitloads of air into the tyre pretty sure thats it, i wanna buy one does anyone know where you get one?

might just use the flaming tyre trick... does it ever not work?

Mr Fujiwara
25th April 2009, 05:37 PM
yeh man, all the time they dont work, and they shoot flames out of the gap back at you somtimes, ive done maybe 20 stretches with mates before the booster, and some work first shot, but its really hit and miss, at least with a Baby elephant (bead booster) like ive got, with a pressure guage, you can have the exact same thing happening each time.

i used to work at beaurepaires, and i got the supplier of thier equip to get one for me, well i actually haggled on the phone offering cash, and ended up getting it that arvo from thier factory for like 120 less than listed price :D!!!

but im sure any tyre shop, especially if you're mates with one, can find you somthing for a reasonable price, they are pretty expensive but if you're changing tyres alot like i was, with mates and stuff, you can all chip in and it might only be $50 each or somthing.

Failed for today.

So me and Mr **** are fitting ever thing else to the car first. Worry about tyres later.

bead blaster is the greatest investment ive made...came in handy so many times before...take it to the track religiously and could have easily made money on it letting ppl use it....

Did it, done it, drove it, drifted it, great, done, all good,.... OKAY! ......

EDIT: I never really had much success with flame trick on my 9"'s. I either used a 13 or 15" bike tube, which was still difficult or got the guys down the road to blast it from the BACK, not the front in the gaping hole..

Also I used RE001's alot. One day decided I would try Direzza DZ101's. Got the same guys to fit them. looking at the tyres there was a huge looking bead on it. Tyres sat the same as the RE001, but guys got the tyre onto the 9" with just air pressure into the valve. I was amazed, plus those tyres lasted alot longer, and were great fun to drive on. anyway..

Apache Tyres @ Wynnum have a baby elephant, works very well and put the 195 on my 8.5 Watanabe (step dish easier than Equipe but harder than SSR Mesh) in about a minute for a good price.
