I am a little concerd that my 20 valve is under preforming, I was wondering if any1 who has a silvertop can give me an indication of what kinda pwer i should be expecting. When i rev the shit outa my car like 7.5 to 8K by second gear ive just touched 100KPH if that helps refrence anything also i am running a 3.9 ratio. Also i dnt think my VVTi is working i took out the plug and put out the same power i dnt feel a change in the reves either when it was pluged in.
Ur help would be much appretiated!!

hey the info you have supplied has nothing to do with power..... all your giving is revs of engine compared to final drive speed at the tyres.... power would be more comparable in regards to HOW it gets there...
if its a silver top you should have a definate kick at about 4grand ( i think thats the cross over, i could be wrong but on silver tops its a fixed value)

Check basics like ignition timing, spark plugs, lead, coil etc....
Retarded ignition timing will not the power out of a 20v....

I was concerned about this too... mines using stock everything but running a little rich. been getting a mate to time me on the freeway, i get on average between 7 and 8 seconds zero to a hundred. i can't get it any better then that.... i hope mines at least close to being a good 20v st.

Friend of mine was complaining about lacking performance out of his 20v ae82 also... Ended up doing one of them 'tee-kay' tests and found combustion gases in the cooling system.
Headgasket
Just a thought.

is that you Anton?
is that your engine in your avatar pic? if so you need some trumpets and a tune on that ecu, most likely a change of ecu all together

Stock speedo eh. you really think it does 190 in third with a 4.1? I thought my blacktop did 170 in third and then i fitted a digital speed sensor and adaptronic vidigauge and its more like 145. Stock speedos are way off after 20 yrs plus.

true, still wouldn't be 190, if it says 190, i reckon its maybe 170 in reality.

remeber i have alot different gearing to you so its kind of expected
IMO opinion you should have a w series box behind a 20v anyway as a t50 is weak as piss and if you want to have any fun with it, itll just break
i broke one with a 16v and that was a jap one too

all relative to driving style brendon, people have had T50 gearboxes running behind 4age turbo engines for quite a while. If fun is dropping the clutch regually then I agree with you
