Hey guys in the today my car has been running rough on idle the oil pressure gauge usually reads 60 psi but today on a hot day my oil pressure was dropping to 20 psi on idle and when i would drive again it would go back to normal operating pressures , What else i noticed was my oil level gauge in my ae86 was going from 3/4 full to half when the car started to behave like this.. I don't know where to start to be honest , oil pump ? turbo oil feed lines ? oil return ? restrictions in lines ? could it be my oil cooler relocator kit?

i just need to know somewhere to start , this has only happen only and its extremely hot today in syndey.

Any ideas whats going on?

High oil temp caused by the hot weather sounds like the problem.

as the oil heats up it changes vircosity

up here in QLD id wouldn't be worried. so long as the sump always has oil and the guage has oil pressure that is enough for well most people i know. Id be worried it the was no pressure tho

This should be normal,
When oil gets hot it gets thinner, if you have an oil temp guage, it should be reading just over 100 deg,
If the oil is too thick because its too cold it will auctually cost you power.

I would think that the oil you are running is slightly wrong viscosity if it stays at high preassure even when the engine has warmed up.
