I was wondering if the con rods are the same? I have searched and think it is yes but want to make sure.

I'll have to disagree here. Yeah i know... if Billzilla says it, it's right :P But having stripped my smallport and later comparing them to some early model GZE internals, the GZE units are definately bigger. I'm unsure about the latter map sensored GZEs but the AFM version was bigger. Note: this is just my observation of only 2 motors. People always seem to say different things about this.
Either one is suitable for big boost applications though. I'm more than happy with the smallport rods that went into my motor.

Well if we're getting technical then gze rods from an ae101 era will have slimmer rods than a smallport. ;)

it is open to debate, ive seen small port inernals in a big port (just an example)
4agzelegend - maybe I'm blind but the rod on the left has a thicker I beam thean the right. ehance it wouldn't be the same right?

I have had dozens of these engines apart and there are many different rods fitted. There are some GZE rods which are really thick up along the beam and definitely different to both the 100kw and 20V rods. I have 100kw & 20V rods which look almost identical but found 15grams different weight (thats a big difference), indicating they are diminesionally different and maybe made from different steels.

they are all good and strong. i would be shopping on weight rather than strength in almost any application be it turbo or NA.
obviously skip ae111 if your going turbo, but thats about all there is to worry about.

No not surprised just thought some one would say no as the case seems to be.
So even tho they are different they are interchangeable? Obviously four of the same would need to be used

there are 2 versions of conrod 'sizes'
38mm/18mm
40mm/20mm
big end/gudgeon
other than that, its as slydar said, shop for weight.
Off topic - Has anyone ACTUALLY snapped an ae111 rod?

Beau yates broke one on his boosted black top.
