Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen!

Tonight I had the pleasure of witnessing what may have been a first in Australia, if not Queensland at the very least.

One of my mates managed to have his Mitsubishi L300 Star Wagon impounded for 48 hours under Queensland Anti-hoon laws.

It happened at approximately 9:30PM at Wellington Point. The vehicle in question was stock mechanically, and even had an automatic transmission. Police who took action on the vehicle were in a silver Ford Falcon which appears to have been parked, waiting to swoop, on the opposite side of the car park, not within line of sight of the vehicle at the time of the incident.

As funny as it is, may it serve as a warning to y'all that they can strike anywhere, anytime, so don't do it. :P

As much as I wish it was, its far from the first car to be impounded.

Sucks for your mate.

Oh, I know it's not the first car to be impounded, lol, I was hoping it's the first L300 impounded under anti-hooning laws, lol.

Just managed to notice that I forgot to mention the reason why it was impounded. Despite it being a bog stock auto L300 Star Wagon (of doom?), he got caught for "undue smoke and noise", aka, doing a burnout.

my bad!

Well I've never heard of a Star Wagon so it gets my vote for originality! Can the thing even do a skid?

Suprisingly, yeah. Doesn't even take that much effort to get going... I'm assuming because it's a commercial, it probably has a really short first gear and diff ratio, which would mean quick acceleration off the mark, which also means easier to light it up... Was still pretty dang funny!

Thats gold.....the power and finese of the star wagon is finally being apreciated!! haha...some of the official names of the offences are hilarious! a mate has an offence next to his name saying....'illegally parking automobile in private garage whilst being persued by police'.... :hammer:

Sorry for digging up an old topic, but my mate had his court date yesterday.

Unfortunatly irony played its part... the judge he got happened to live in Wellington Point, actually on the road leading out of the point... So he'd have to put up with hoons day and night whizzing up and down that stretch. So, I think the end result was a little on the harsh side considering undue smoke and noise carries only $150 and 2 points usually.

No fine.
1 Month suspended licence.
Cannot leave the state of QLD.
Has to see a good behaviour officer.
Has to attend a safe driving seminar (not the fun skidpan type).
60 hours community service.

Pretty freaking harsh...

60 hours! can you elect what kind of community service that is? well i guess having no licence for a month could put him out of work for a month so 60hours isnt that bad. 1 and a half weeks of community work.

harsh as, fuk that community service off

not worth gettin pulled over anymore, cheaper to respray ur car after each encounter with the po-po-po-do

bullshit

theres plenty of crazy fuckers out there, but its more important to catch someone doin a carpark skid

Yeah, he did get the chance to elect what he did... I think he said it was between helping out a local AFL club, or helping at an elderly peoples home. He chose the former.
