Hi,

My hachi has a Celica engine in it, I'm going to get a 4AGE silver top.

I don't really know much about swapping around engines, just wondering if there's anything else i'm going to need apart from the new engine itself...

Any advice?

Which celica engine? 2t? 18r? Is it twincam?

The only info i have is that it's twincam (DOHC), fuel injected, 2Lt...

Does that help?

Sounds like a 3sge. don't swap one of those for a 4age people usually go the other way

Oh really? So it's better huh...

I don't really know too much about car engines, so I was just going to try and get the engine that's SUPPOSED to be in an 86... but if it's better... I guess I'll stick with it...

Yes the 2L motor would be a 3sge... but wtf, did you buy your sprinter with a 3sge in it??
No way would you want to swap a 4age into it. The 3sge shits all over a 4age. It has far more power and torque than a 4age.

Oh wait what am I saying, the 3sge is a shit engine and I feel sorry for you getting ripped off, however since I'm such a nice guy, I am willing to swap you my 4age sprinter for yours, deal? hehe

How much did you pay for your car, cos the conversion isn't particularly cheap or easy, to say the least.

Actually, if your sprinter is a Trueno, I'd consider that seriously :greenbounce:

18rg is also a twin cam 2 litre - I remember seeing a sprinter with this engine for sale a while back?

A pic of the engine will make things a lot easier for people to identify.

Other wise it could be anything really.

Here's a shot of it from when it still had the Trueno front.

Can someone confirm what the engine is?

So I'm better to stick with this than to go 4AGZE?

don't waste your time with a gze. i have one and it was fun at first, but having low end torque is over-rated. youre better off NA or turboing the gze.

id only ever have another gze hachi for a daily

The way I see it...if it aint broke..don't try to fix it.

But its up to you to what you do to your car. But from my guess...you'll need a fair bit of parts for your conversion. So that's extra $$$$$

Do not take that motor out. Instead hunt down another 18rg and build it into a monster and drop it in.

2.0 liter high revving toyota goodness in an ae86? Hell yeah. Stock that motor should make between 130 and 145hp. There's a tone of information about them on toymods and the old toymods forum and you can get some very decent power out of them n/a and turboed

Not to mention more torque than a 4age.... hmm actually not sure on the specs, but it would have a broader torque band at the very least.

18rg would be sweet
they are abit older compared to the 4age but not worth swapping for a 4age as they have sufficient power and torque
ive heard they are pretty strong motors aswell,
