dialing in cams

hey all, straight to the chase, my cams are wade 800A, 253 at 40thou, i put the degree wheel on harmonic balancer and dial indicator on cam lobe, at 50thou, the degree was at 253, does this sound right with the lifter clearence being 10thou.
