i don't believe tomei make a complete 4ag engine... i think they only do rb26s, and sr's etc.?

and toda is the same?

they just make the main components of the engines, cams, pulleys, valve springs, pistons etc...

Ueo's car is powered by tomei last I heard. It has Tomei crank, camshafts and raytec. It also uses some toda gear :P

Your best bet will be to visit nissansilva and ask toda australia and tomei authorised dealers for crate engines. I personally would get a f20c and try install that over a full race spec crate motor with short life span.

as far as i'm aware Tomei still do a 'genesis' 4A crate motor (Ueo's old motor, now in the grey TE wagon) to the general public on a 'per order' basis (you send your motor, they gauge if it's worth building by crack testing the block etc.)

be prepared to pay lots of money, infact ALOT - in the vicinity of about 5,000AUD + for it

i have the entire genesis 4A spec list somewhere, i'll find it, its a solid page long

off the top of my head, it includes things like a billet crank, carillo rods, decking of head/bottom end, cosworth HG and studs etc etc

if you want something serious, i'd recommend getting in contact with places like techno pro spirit (tp-spirit.com) or noby booth about getting the parts for it or if they can do the building.

5,000 gets you nothing in australia, and we're talking about sending an engine to japan? to be built to almost race specifications?

toda supplys a kit for the 16v and 20v which will produce a fair bit of power enough for race use, speak to adrian (from toda) too see if they supply a full race built engine, they might do it

Any competent Australian engine builder who knows 4AGE's could put you together a equal or better package to what toda or tomei offer for less. /thread

There is no discussion, it is cheaper to do things in house. Sourcing parts from Japan is a good idea, however having the engine built there is not. Suggesting that only japanese companies can put together good engine packages is just ridiculous.

You would be raped by shipping, customs (With the value of such an engine, the fee would be ridiculous), and most importantly, labour.

It's just not practical.
