Replacing suspension

I just got a set of new coilovers and i've never replaced or done anything with suspension before so its kinda just trial and error and i managed to get the old suspension off the left hand side but now run into a wall on what to do next. There is a bracket which is connected to the brake in which the suspension sits in and I'm not sure if i need to use it again to put in the coilovers i have or if i need to buy a new one or something i have pictures of everything

any information on what is needed to do next would help heaps and yeah i've never done anything like this so its new to me :confused:

you'll have to cut down the old sturt tube and weld on the new thread section(for the spring perch) and tap a new gland thread(to hold the instert in.
might be worth taking to a supension shop if you haven't done this sort of thing before.

its easy but so not worth it

Put the stock assemblies back in and you might have safer handling.

I have admiration for you using the trial and error process... but you have just stepped into the error zone by getting those.


You *might* be able to get those to work the way they should, but expect to run into some problems in the future.

i got those D2 brand ones

they seem alright but i really wont know until i drive with them... but it looks as though that may not be happening in the near future

Yeah i thought they were D2...

Seriously, just ditch them and buy some decent coilovers, get in touch with AJPS who make up coilovers from your standard struts with new shocks to suit. With proper short stroking of the strut and a proper STEEL threaded collar they are much better quality than the ebay special that you have bought.

While the ones you have may look all shiny and expensive they are just crap, they are made of alloy which will bend if you hit a gutter, the shocks are shit quality with crap valving, and they are not short stroke, meaning that when you lower the car, the shock will have barely any travel.

your setup can be made to work.

spend some of your time getting it right, it wont cost you anything that way.
