t series tail shafts

Hey guys i am in the middle of converting diff to an t series on the ae86 , just wondering if i need use the hole tail shaft of the t series or can i just use the rear part and connect to the s series front ?? sorry if this has been answered but i am in need of an answer now as we doing it now
