maybe the alternator isnt charging the battery enough.
or you left your lights on ?
radio on or something ?

what engine are you running? 4ac or 4age or something else?

Check all earth connections for good clean connections aswell as battery terminal connections.

if you jump start the car, then remove the battery while the engine is still running, the engine should still run if the alternator is ok.

If it stalls and dies, alternator/ or voltage regulator might be rooted (some more in depth testing applies).

If you're needing to press the acc pedal in a bit for it to start, chances are that that particular problem is actually carbie related. The jets get dirty and/or degrade in them, and unless you squirt a bit of petrol through them with the pedal, the engine turning over the pump doesn't get enough fuel out of the carbie for it to start. Happens a lot for basically any old carbied car...

As for the electrical problem, it could be a number of things. If you've got an aftermarket stereo, check that it's been wired correctly. Just because it's working doesn't mean it's wired correctly... a common thing is for people just to connect the ign switch wire to power, but if you do that it'll still draw current. I wouldn't rule out the alternator being a problem either. Just because it's producing enough current and voltage to run the car, doesn't mean it's producing enough to recharge the battery from its cranking duties. Having said that, it could be a faulty battery straight up, so if you can, try and borrow a friend's battery and see if that makes a difference.

Multimeters are excellent in this scenario... see what voltage your battery is at, and what it goes to once it's jump started too. Don't measure current (because it will blow the multimeter or it's fuse if it's got one). IMHO, it's usually best to run down to an auto-electrician with something like this if you're unsure though. It could be a real simple problem that costs $20 to fix, but if you have no idea what you're doing, you could be buggering around with it for months...

i'd say it could be the alternator..same thing happened to me. Had to jump start it a number of times but fixed now. Or if your running a carby it could be something to do with that
