Hey guys, Just wondering if a 16 valve head will go straight onto 4ac block. and are there any problems? I know 95% of you are going to say why bother but i am under new laws so i can't do a motor swap and i suspect my head is cracked i haven't taken it off yet but... so yeah just has anyone done this any tips and are there any down falls?
cheers in advance
marco.

the block is the same as a GE but the internals aren't. if you just use the same block but use GE internals that would be better and you would still keep the same engine number. so to answer your question yes it will, but you wont benefit much as the innards will let you down

Marco this has been covered a few times so try a search
But the basic rundown is that the pistons would have to be changed and for the effort and price it would be better starting with the real thing.

Also this plan will make things slightly less dodgy (at least numbers will match) but not entirely un-dodgy. It is still not the stock engine.
We can all discuss at length whether this is legal/insurable/blah blah blah (as has been done before), but in the end it comes down to what you choose to do.

Has been asked many times before - yes, it can be done, but a fair bit of effort is required to do. If its to do with P-plater laws, probably discuss whether the 4AGE conversion is legal with your local road authority or engineer. Some will let it happen, as it is still a 1.6L NA motor, while others won't like it.
