Hey just wondering if its worth the hassle to put blacktop itbs on my bigport 16v.
don't know much about it, is it a hassle and worth the time/money?
As I'm looking to buy a set.
I searched itbs but didnt help!

I can't comment about the benifits of quad throttles so much but I can say that silvertop throttles are enough for roughly 220hp so go for them instead.

i was of the opinion that 20v to 16v adaptors only fit ST20v quads?

i'm 95% sure you can't run them properly on the standard ecu. I've heard people do it but the air/fuel ratios would be out, no idle up and other issues.

I'm also of the opinion that the standard ecu wouldn't be quite right for it.
and as for the adapter to suit the quads you would have to check it out first bcos the silver top quads would need a different adapter to black top (i know this as i wanted to put a b/t head on my s/t bottom, but then my brother helpfully advised that my s/t quads wouldn't fit <_< ).

i don't know about u but i would also be considering the possibility of a dual carb set up, just a thought

but will Black Top itbs fit on a bigport 16v?
And is there a difference in power gain from the Silver top itbs, with a tuned ecu?

Blacktop have bigger throats than Silvertop. 50mm then tappers down to 45mm or something, I will measure mine during the week and post it up.

I don't see any point in just putting itb's on a stock motor, Up the compression, Do some combustion chamber work/port work etc

Sam is the man.

Blacktop quads have the same bolt up pattern as Silvertop.

just keep in mind the shape of the housings on the engine side are different on the inside so they arnt readlily interchangeable.

Yes they are a weird shape.

The quads i have are 50mm at the opening and the butterfly's are around 45mm ?

just for the record

EVERY 16V->quad adaptor i have ever seen (about 6 or 7 different ones now) have all been setup to suit silvertop quads

BUT, if you attach blacktop quads, you will see that it is infact very very easy (20 minutes with a dremel and a sanding/carbide bit) to "port" the adaptor out to suit the altogether larger, eggier shape. it's not rocket science, and ANYONE, including those who tried to fit circle shapes into the triangle at preschool, should be able to do it.

just something to keep in mind
