Hey guys i am after an ecu for my 4agte ae86 aiming for 180kw , i am in need of peoples opinions on what ecu i should run with a decent budget of 1g - 1.5g ish . I will be installing the ecu and wanting to know whats best for my setup price range/power figure , So shoot away on what you guys are using and what advatages/disadvantages you found with them.
Also any regrets on the ecu choice you made.

well mate I'm also in the same situation as you, I'm after a comp for my 20valve.
but i also asked the shop if the comp I'm lookin at would be ok for turbo later down the track.
so to get to the point the shop suggested the ems stinger which is right in ur price range, but it also seems a good value for money ecu.
however, I'm not too sure, but wouldn't that power figure be more down to fuel system and associated stuff rather than any aftermarket ecu (just a different tune)??
if any other people have some input aswell id appreciate it too.
cheers matt.

i am planning to spend silly amounts of money on a n/a engine and plan to run it with adaptronic....all the results ive seen from them speak for themselves and the features vs costs is mad

adaptronic is good. i use motec and its just 'the shit' but not in your price range. adaptronic is one of the best of the lower priced ecu's.

Have heard much of adaptronic before .. Is there alot of tuners out there for it ?? What your opinions on Haltechs ?
1 of the reasons i would go for a microtech lt10s is to keep the standard gze coils and ignitor saves me changing them :)

ems 4424 stinger, will work.
cheep to pick up second hand and about 1100 new.
the only thing these computers don't feature is banked injectors.
which pretty much means the injectors all fire at once. no big deal. as the injectors literally don't stop flowing when the motor is running.
easy to install. easy to adjust base map to get it running.

you don't have to change any sensors ever, on an adaptronic, thats one big reason why people use them.
haltechs are great, but they suck for this reason.
youre not far off the mark with the stinger, it used to be the number one choice for a good budget computer, until adaptronic came along.
an adaptronic will run almost any engine easily.
including super hi-tech late model stuff like beams 3s..
rotors are about the only thing they don't do, but only because they havent had a chance do any development work with them
this actually might have changed recently.
4age's though, of all types are no problem at all.. it has sort of become the number one choice for a 4age these days it seems, as theyre kinda similar in characteristic, i.e both are a great product, which can't really be beaten for the money.
also the company owner andy is in sydney. i don't know if its still the case but you might even be able to get him to tune the car for you.

a mate is using a apex'i power FC on his 4ag, its a classic and for a very long time as been popular for tuners in japan.
its ment for a 3sge/t with an adaptor which makes it plug straight into the factory ECU plug!
although its been around for quite a while, its still one of the most powerful ecu's on the market...
