Hey guys, well after regretting selling my ae86 in a big way i've decided to but another one .

Anyways i have been looking at this ae86 thats on carsales but cant make up my mind whether its worth 19.5k. I meant it may be awesome but i've seen similar cars for atleast 5k cheaper.

http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=7134775&__sid=120AFF40C2A2&__Qpb=true&Cr=0&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32%7c1%7c%7cpCar_Price_Decim al%7c1%7c%7cpCar_Make_String%7c0%7c%7cpCar_Model_S tring%7c0&keywords=&__N=1216%201246%201247%201252%201282%204294962861% 204294964187%20903&seot=0&tsrc=allcarhome&__Nne=15&trecs=3&silo=1011

Theres a mint as one on here thats in syd that i'm preparred to go up and get but yea just thought i'd get some more opinions.

Cheers.

Wouldn't pay that much, but that thing is fucking neat.

Did anyone see the ammount of spares it comes with though?

16v 4age,
2 x t50's
Locked diff with 4.9
Old coilovers
section stainless extractors

and he reckons other shit.

So for that price you do get quite alot.

yeah but still... 19 smackers can get u a shitload too some of the best tuned 86's that have came over were less than that, u should see if that purple coupe is still for sale ? that was fairly special

Intense

See what price you could get minus the spares, something closer to 16k is more reasonable, this is one of the cleanest ae86's in aus and it's got the performance to back it up. He's a member on here, here's his thread http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/showthread.php?t=4757

Purple coupe? Was that on here or car sales?

Yea it does come with heaps of spares, but maybe worth 3k max for all of them.

I'll just have to go see it in the flesh first i guess, and then make up my mind, but it would have to be something special.

If only there was more coupe's for sale in vic, they always seem to be in nsw or s.a for some reason haha.

easy

figure out how much for a straight jt apex.
then add together the cost of all the aftermarket items
factor in if you get a cheaper tcar you will have to do much work yourself.

then you will prob come up with a price of 25k+ for all the shit he has done to it.

a gt apex stock prob fetch aroud 12k.
add in the GZE rebuilt,
add aftermarket ECU (1000give or take)
add in the greddy coilovers and camber tops
lsd would be 1g.

now you can do it all cheaper, but then its your TIME that your spending.

i would say for maybe 17k would be good. but 19.5k still isnt that expensive for a road legal GZE with all the goodies and GT APEX to boot.

BUT THIS IS JUST MY OPINION....
i reckon if you wanted to build this car (and get the spares) it would cost well over 20k. and you would have to factor in that you would prob have the car off the road for a while doing all the work.

It was for sale on here, but has since been sold.

4.9 is way too short for any forced induction 4a. i had a 4.3 with a 15psi gze and it felt like the gears were way too short.

all torque
10th May 2009, 04:17 PM
The locked diff with the 4.9 ratio is included in the spare parts. Ad says the car comes fitted with a TRD 2-way LSD, and doesn't mention final drive ratio.

Like Intense said, I'd see how much he wants for it sans the spares.

if you can say you would rather this 86 over a evo 6, r32 gtr, s15, supra or so many other options then its worth wateva you feel its worth to you. a car is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it at the end of the day

Well, if you only have 7 posts to your name on here, you wouldn't be ready to pay 19k for a AE86. You want something cheaper till you know whats what. If for some reason you knew everything about AE86s but have just come back from overseas and have no car, and know exactly what you want, then that car for 19k is not too bad. Add up the cost of the parts. I have spend less on my car (maybe $14,000 on full rebuild) but it is at a much cheaper spec. I don't have HKS coilovers with electronic control or anything like that.

Nah I honestley think asking 20k is way too high.
There is how much you have spent on it and then there is what it's worth.
Under any normal circumstances the latter is lower, much lower.
Who here has built their 86 assuming they'll get 90% of their money back when they sell it? I know i haven't.

yea do this! i havent owned an 86 before but ive been on these forums for a good few years now and high $$ sprinters seem to take forever to sell.. i'd be using that as one bargaining technique if i were u

i seriously think he'd be hard pressed to find someone willing to spend 20k on an 86... so i'd be sticking to $16.5k and if it somehow sells then dont worry about it! another will pop up!~

I've driven this car in its N/A form and old suspension setup back in the day. It was pretty damn good to drive as it was, and it would blow my mind to see what it would be like to drive now that it has the gze and that illustrious greddy in-car adjustable suspension (overkill).

Having said that the owner is a bit of a lil bitch... everything has to be perfect and to his liking... so expect no expense spared

ae86hachiroku
17th May 2009, 03:02 PM
No one here would afford it (or want to pay that much). It'll be someone out of the forums that would actually come through with the cash. Very much worth it instead of chasing your tail trying to get one to this quality.

well if we itimise...with very aproximate prices

just the shell, in non rusty condition, with decent paint, decent interiour, assuming its all proper JDM BATMAN style, i reckon ppl woudl be willing to be pay around 4K or so for that.

so shell: 4k
Greddy Coilovers with in car damping controller(under 800kms): no idea on price, lets say 2k
Greddy camber top: 300
TRD front and rear sway bars: lets say 600
Adjustable castor rods: 300
Adjustable tie rods: 200
Front CARBING strut bar + rear factory strut bar: 400
TRD 2 way LSD (assume its decent) 900
Cusco Front rear lower arm bar:250
XR4 Longchamp wheels (assume decent offset and condition) 900
Cusco brake stopper: 300
INTERIOR:
black interior (included in shell price)
Recaro driver's seat: 500
DEFI DIN gauges, dunno how many but they arent cheap say: 500
NARDI steering wheel: 300 (looks almost new)
TRD knob + short shifter:300

now the engine

4agze fully rebuilt: dunno specs, but rebuild normally around 2k
Rebuilt head with portpolish (under500kms), say extra 500
Microtech LT10(brand new): 1200 + 500 tuning, not much change from 2000
Fujitsubo Legalis R Cat back: no idea lets say 1k
FMIC + Huge aluminum radiator (SR20 spec): say 400

now the spares

Original 16v 4age that came with this car: these seem to go for around 1500
Locked diff with TRD 4.9 final drive, assume complete housing: 300 + 300 for ratio
Old set of coilovers with TRD inserts (1 is leaking but easy to fix): say 500
SECTION stainless steel headers (jap): 400
2 T50 gearboxes :600

now if we add all that up *go ms calc go*.

adds up to $21250

now add in the fact that he reckons its completely legal (worth a crapload if he can prove it i reckon) so lets for ineterest sake he has spent around 2000 on engineering costs.

adding in takumi tax (hehe)

essentiallly looking at a 25k car

would i pay 19.5k for it? hell no, id buy a GTR, or put a deposit on a house.

Yeah unfortunately money/time spent does not equal sell price, check out www.my105.com.au - there are cars on there with a sell price 1/3 the money spent on them.

Facts:

A Item (for example a car) is worth what the buyer is willing to pay for it! Not what a bunch of peeps say on the interwebs!

Sprinters are NOT and will NOT be getting any cheaper. They are basically in the 25 year old bracket! They are a historic car.

This car is very well devloped and alot of good shiz and time and care has gone into this.

Unless your mum's, Dad's Barbers, best mates sister knows Jesse Streeter and can get you "sweet hook ups" i doubt you could build this thing for that price. Coupes that are complied and rego'd Start around 11500g and go up. Then add a 4agze into that has been fully rebuilt with this spec $3-4000 then add all the other shiz, wheels, suspension, on and on and on..

If you dont have the money dont even look at this car. Buy what you can afford and most importantly WHAT YOU WANT!

This.
I bought my coupe with some nice parts on it. But at the end of the day to get it up to how I want it I've spent close to 15k on parts with about 10k til completion. Add that to the $9000 purchase... and I still got a fuck load of rust to come out...

And I would want about 16.5k if I wanted to sell it - finished that is.

If you can see yourself driving this car, and it has everything you want and need in your 86, then cosider that to build it, would cost alot more.
So in my opinion the car is worth it.

anyone that has been in this car or seen it in person will definitely say its worth it...

i have been in this car and it handles better than any other sprinter i have been in, perfect amount of power and clean in and out, not to mention how reliable the car is and all the spares that come with it (you could probably sell them all for over 4k)...

i know for a fact, ALLOT of money has been spent on this sprinter and i only wish i had the money, cause i would buy it in a heart beat! i say this with all honesty

yes the car is worth it, who ever buys it will not be disappointed...
