sorry about this noob question

I'm just gonna apologise in advance for this noob question

ok, ive got my car back today for the first time in 9 months. My mechanic told me it needs new front brakes.

i can't just fix it with new calipers, the hub is warped. now ive never really concentrated on my brakes before so I'm not really sure whats going on there or what i need to do. i guess I'm after some replacement discs/rotors and calipers, plus some alright pads

ive got a small budget and I'm a bit mechanically challenged but not fully <_< SO i need a budget option and one that i could possibly do myself without too much hassle.

If anyone has any ideas then can u please just include a small DIY bit in ur post just to help me out a bit, I'm here to learn like everyone else so when i do it i can pass on my knowledge :P

I only have on thing to say to you.. find a new mechanic and never go back there

the hub is a massive chuck on steel, it isnt under much thermal stress at all and are never known to get out of shape. My personal opinion he is either a crazy man or he knows that you don't know and is trying to rip you off

That definitely doesn't make any sense-- Hubs/spindels don't warp.

You COULD have warped ROTORS. Does it feel like your pedal is pulsing back at you when you step on the brake?

Tell us, how are your brakes acting?

And how in the hell did your mechanic manage to keep your car for nine months? Was it in a wreck? :blink:

I bent my hub in my falcon, well stub axle actually.... from hitting a gutter haha

when under heavy braking the steering wheel shudders a fair bit, its ok under normal braking (apart from being shit at stopping)

sorry, i meant warped rotors, hub is fine i just checked it myself <_<

what are my options?

p.s. car was in a wreck + 20v installation + down time work = 9 months :P

get some second hand rotors off one of the guys on here, they should be dirt cheap. Or use it as an excuse to upgrade

i got jdm rotors and calipers for 250. awesome brakes now.if u run a t series diff you should upgrade the front btrakes anyway as the bigger drums on the rear could throw out the braking balance of your car. thats what i believe anyway
