gday peoples,

basically what plug or wire(s) do i need to splice into to use the factory thermo fan signal switch on an ae82 loom? im over the whole thermofan manual switch inside the cabin and want to go a little more standard buy not having to worry about remembering to turn the thermo fan switch on.

ive had a look through the wiring diagram and engine manual as best as i could (im fucking useless at reading wiring diagrams) but had no luck in finding what i wanted.

any help is greatly appreciated.

cheers,

stefan

The thermo fan switch is the sensor in the remote thermostat housing. It's earthed when the engine is cold, and an open circuit when hot. Use it to control a relay (you need a relay with an NC contact, not a normal automotive one). It has nothing to do with the ECU.

... oh crap, I'm not 100% on the thermo housing thing. 90% sure it's that, but may possibly be one of the ones in the rear water outlet on the head.

cheers for the help, if i had to guess i wouldve said one of the sensors on the back of the head as i assume it would only need one temp reading to go to the ecu

i already have a switch, after nearly 3 years im over it. got my car to a point where it has all the nice bits like cold start and idle advance so now i want an automated thermo fan!

Yes, normally on the radiator side of the thermostat, (the cold side)

Is usually a translucent white plug and sender if its off an AE82 or AE92 I do believe.
