Got at t50 off a mate..
anyways... the input shaft.. (the one that goes into your clutch) has a little play... about 1mm side to side and 2 mm in and out...
is this cool?

Yes, well mine that had just been rebuilt did that. I assume its normal.
Do you have a noise your trying to find.

Yeah i've noticed that with the 3 i've played with
I assume its normal, but then again, most of the boxes are 200,000km+ now

probaly more what you want to look for is something that shifts nicely and has a nice smooth feeling when you turn the imput.
but it is a little hard to assume the condition when its not in a car.

All RWD gearboxs have that. That is why the spigot bearing is there for.
