Bassically i'm a game whore, i can't get enough. I used to be a strictly pc guy but i'm thinking about getting a ps3. I remember when i was adicted to metal gear solid on ps1.
To build a decent comp its atleast $1000, plus a lcd onitor etc, etc. A ps3 is $700, and theres the fact that all games will be good on it graphics wise, unlike on pc. Plus you can transfer stuff to and from ps3 to pc anyway, and you have ablue ray player if you have a hd t.v. And most importantly you have a ae86 in the ps3 verion of grid lol.
So what do you guys think of the ps3?

agree, and you can use the net on the ps3. and 700 is pretty expensive for a ps3, also with the graphics on a ps3 you would have to spend a lot more than 1k on a comp to get the graphics as good.

I've always been a playstation fan. Like you said, the ps3 is pretty cheap as opposed to building a gaming computer and you get blueray which will be the next DVD. And IMO, the PS3 is worth getting just for MGS4 and GTA5. When I get my tax back, it is either going to new rims or a PS3.

lol blueray is the next beta or mini disk. yeh its better but not enough for everyone to throw out their dvd players and buy blueray gear.
i'd wait till the ps3 gets down to the $500 mark and then buy one

and since NO ONE'S supporting HD-DVD anymore, blue ray has won the HD disc war. as more and more TV's come onto the market with 1080p resolution they'll get more popular. i've also been told by a reliable source (works at the good guys ;) ) that blue ray players should be under $250 by christmas.... you can bet that they aren't going away anytime soon
*edit* Bad grammer

That's a massive drop for them, verm69. The only reason I haven't bought one is cause you need a decent screen to make them worth it, lol maybe next year :)

It's not whether they're worth it or not, it's whether you can find a 60gb on ebay or buy a crappy arse 40gb :( lol.

buy one, just make sure you have a good tv. I brought mine on a saturday, then got over it and spent $1500 on a HD lcd the next day. Call of Duty is awesome, and GTA5 is sweet...going to buy grid but I need monies for my car and holidays

I was shatered to hear that you can't get a 60gig version anymore. I was hoping i could find one, even the mgs pack you can't get. But yeah i'll end up with a 40gig version more than likely, if i really want to play ps2 games (which i do) i can get a second hand one for like $100 anywayz.
I will have to be a half decent t.v  . I'm guesing any hd t.v would do? You can get lcd hd t.v for well under a grand.

Mate get one, you won't regret it. GTA is awsome and dirt is a top game, just to name afew
Also iv read in afew places that developers havnt even scratched the surface of what the ps3 is capable of, so we are yet to truly see how good it is.

this is true, most of the games out atm aren't 1080p, and don't utilize what the ps3 has, so they are going to get MUCH better... and with the motion sensing controllers, there is ALOT of potential.
also if you want more space THAT much, you can get big sata laptop drives on ebay for a fair price. AND putting it in doesn't break your warrenty... if you put your own hdd in, and it fucks up, sony will still give you support... same if you put linux on it... they support that too! :woot:

i got a xbox 360 a little while ago. Awesome machine. keep in mind u need a 42" tv with atleased 720p resolution if you want to have the games look good.
but yeah, grid was cool for the first 7 minutes then i was like.. meh, its just another racing game zzzzzzzz
so i traded it for assassins creed. that game kicks ass, the shading and textures over the city is truly epic, you can climb any biulding and bail over the rooftops. its unreal.
COD4 is also an awesome game but its over too soon, i finished it in one day :(
GTA4 was a bit of a let down, the graphics aren;t that much better and you soon realise its EXACTLY the same as san andreas and everyother gta3 game... and as for the "realistic" driving physics, it just means every car handels like its got a 3 tone weight in the back, try and pull a skid and you do a 360 even at 20klm/h
but anyway, get yourself one but don't forget the good TV lol :)

360's are good if you want to trick your neighbors that you have a 747 in your lounge... also, GT5 comes out later this year/early next year on ps3... if you want to see good graphics, get that! it's amazing!
i love grid because the driving with competitors is a little more fair... you can't just put a level 30 turbo on your car and blow them away, so it makes you concentrate on your apex's a little more, and drifting on it is pretty good...
GTA5's graphics weren't that great, but as always the game play is amazing. Any game where i can blow up cops with a rocket launcher, steal a plane, parachute off that plane onto a boat, launch that boat onto a street and steal some dude's car whilst i beat the shit out of him and then use that car to run over people for no good reason is epic IMO

I own a 360, wouldn't mind a ps3 as well, but my TV sucks, and I don't do that much gaming.
GTA4 is boring, its the same thing repackaged with so much hype behind it. I can't believe how easily they've sold this game just by hyping it and advertising it. Every game show, magazine, website wont shut up about it, and it's getting near perfect ratings, but I believe its far from perfect and way way way to similar to the older versions, which were great becuase they were leading the way with innovative ideas.
Assasins Creed is an awesome game, for an hour or two. You can only keep doing exactly the same thing so many times before you get bored.... The game is way to repetitive , [a] go to a town, climb some towers, find a dude, kill him, escape 'go to [a]'!
I think my decision to buy a PS3 will be based on GT5, I know the graphics will be good, but its good AI and online racing that I'm after. AI is where GT has completely failed in the past. Unless they can get it balanced well to create awesome gameplay, I'm not interested.
COD4 kicks ass, single player is an intense movie like experience with the emotions it creates, even if it is a little on the short side, try it on the hardest difficulty, should take you a while then, and you have to be extremely tactical or your dead. Online is where the fun is though, always fun for a quick 30 minute session when you have nothing to do.
And fifa, I can't get enough of Fifa 08 online and against friends, so much emotion created playing that game!

I am a 360 owner, Personally there is more of a game range, Xbox Live is great.. and my xbox is bulletproof.. great little setup..
What did it for me was COD4 if anygame showcases the 360 its COD4, the graphics are unreal (HDMI on 32in LCD)

the game range for ps3 now isnt much less than the 360, though it was a factor when i got my ps3 late last year. now unless a game is platform independant both systems will get a version.---And i got a ps3 cos i found out mgs4 and gt5 were coming!!!!

its true game devs havent made a scratch on its capabilities... thats why there arent many games for the ps3 as compared to the xbox360.. hence they are a little scared to touch that hardware by Rnd means... companies like ea are greedy and coerce those poor game devs into strainous and hourless research on that machine for little money... :D so they rather prefer something thats not hard to work on yet they can still make whatever they want..
as for xbox, without sounding like a fanboy its a pc with a fancy shell and played with hand controllers built for technologically inept trolls that only cares about jumping into gameplay without the worrying about the sys reqs. hencemaking games for it as a breeze.. and cross platform playability is now possible..
for the ps3 to understand it, you have to hire aliens for it...
its the matter of preference really..
either a platform of more games or a platform of more exclusiveness??
