Are your calling the bolt on strap the earth? Its the 12V +ve wire which runs back to the battery (the alternator earths through its outer body to the engine). I'm unsure if the 20v have different alternator plugs to the normal 16v (16v have a round plug)

There will be 3 wires on the alternator plug (can't give colours as they ALWAYS vary for some reason):

Sense
Ignition
Lamp

In the ke70 fuse box area, you will need to locate:

Ignition (Black with yellow trace wire)
Lamp (Yellow or Yellow with white trace wire - i think it varies between ae86/e7)

Sense is just a wire going to the +ve 12 terminal on battery, so just make it run there (or to the bolt on strap).

20 Valve will have 2 types of plug arrangements. Round or elongated round, kinda like a rectangle with round ends on it.

I was cleaning mine up ready for use the other day, it has the elongated plug setup, and on the sticker I think it was, it had the Letters for what pin was what. Like mentioned above S, I and L or something of the equivalent.

the sense is usually the thicker of the three.

the other two are pretty much always white and red.

Not always, infact ill list the colours ive experienced when wiring:

Black blue white
Black Black yellow
white white red
red white blue

etc etc

Though the standard colours are usually:

Black with yellow trace - Ignition
Yellow (or yellow with white trace) - Lamp
White - Sense

Ive found lamp and sense the same gauge wire usually and ignition the thinnest of the lot.

ADM Small port 4AGE looms use a white - yellow - black with yellow stripe from memory.

Just to add to the fun.
