Hey i wanted to know how to spot the difference between the two.

I know, the valley cover and the cam cover and so on but i would like a bit more finer detail.

I wanted to know what was the size of the exhaust port of a silvertop and the size of a blacktop.

And also intake size on the actual quad throttle bodies. If not the intake on the head size.

And if anyone by eyes could tell if this was a BT.(i know its hard to try and tell by these shitty pics)
Cause the valley cover seems its off a ST, unless its been detailed and the lettering painted?

i just measured 40mm for a silvertop exhaust port vs 44mm for a blacktop.

I don't think its possible to tell the differences between the throttles on the outside, so it would need taking the airbox off.

The faq section should be back up soon so you can look at my differences article there.

It might pay to pull that box off after a compression check and see if it has the BT flywheel, heres how it looks

Congrats dude, that looks so clean.

The airbox is the first giveaway that it is a blacktop, the silver top plenum does not fit on blacktop throttles, and vice versa.
The valley cover looks to be a silvertop one from the pics, that doesn't mean anything though.
There should only be one throttle actuator,.

be warned the flywheel may be changed, not a good thing to go off, most people change from the dual mass when a bigger clutch is fitted

the later silvertops also had the single linkage. Flywheel is worth checking for the extra price its worth alone

Blacktop has hydrolic tensioner and silvertop uses spring type. (You can swap oil pumps though).

Sam_Q: those measurements of exhaust port is OD? I measured mine about ~36 ID for the blacktop.
