My Falcoon springs pop out every time its lowered off the jack or if i hit a big bump. How do you get them to stay in the perch?

~200mm springs should still not pop out if you actually have short rear shocks

Rob had 195mm with TRD blues, no problems

I had very similar height, same deal, same shocks..

You guys are doing something wrong lol

you have the cut bit of the spring on the bottom? the uncut bit of the spring need to go on the top

i woudl tend to disagree with the above post

you need to make it sit as nicely as possible on the spring seat (the part on the differential)

the spring is designed to sit on there on an unchopped end, has kind of a lil hump thing where the end of the spring goes.

i have AU ones in mine, and they sit on the spring seat perfectly, when i lower car down i can kind see that it tends to compress one way (since the top is chopped) but once it compresses a bit its all fine (for the record they have never fallen out, or even half fallen out, had no dramas at all with them)

just to make sure i have a few wireties around the spring/spring base, they aren't done up tightly, but just enough so that if the car gets enough movement so that all the weight comes off the springs, they arent gonna move anywhere....

yea i get what you are saying but i find because of the hat on the diff has the imprint the cut bit sit in it nicely and makes the bottom and top sit nicely

if you look at the standard unchoped spring you notice the top is alot flatter to the bottom of the spring because its design to sit on the hat(diff) perfectly

my old chopped ones were chopped at the bottom so that the end of the spring sits at the lowest point in the seat. no problems ever

who owns a red 71 in miranda?

sit the flat part of the spring on the spring seat (the piece on the diff). the tunnel thingo were the spring would sit in the body will hold the cut end of the spring in place...

i find with mine on my other car which were about 240-250 free height

i had them with the chopped bit down and after a few weeks they would pop out and sit on the coil lower(asin one coil was below the spring perch lol)

i flipped em to have the cut bit and the top and never had problems again.

well problems with that

also get some short stroke shocks

get ra60 or xt130 ones from a wreckers i scored some for 20 bucks in my old car and they worked quite well!

here ya go mate

your lucky i just got a new hydraulic jack i wanted to try out! took some nice pics for you

first off we have the spring sitting unloaded:

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/174713.jpg

as can be seen the base sits on a slight angle, this is due to the top being cut...and initially it sits on a slight angle, as can be seen in the following:

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/174714.jpg

now on to the loaded spring

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/174715.jpg

and also

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/174716.jpg

as can be seen the spring sits perfectly flat on the spring perch, no chance of it falling out.

i don't really care what happens at the other end cause there is no way it can move anyway, its pretty trapped at the chassis end.

just for reference this is the ride height, using the commondore wagon shocks (343113 i think) and makes the springs CAPTIVE:
