Hey guys,
also posted this in the build thread.

Is this the correct way to set up a draw through setup.
will be using a cordia turbo tc05. have a td04l but think its abit big.
will be butchering the exhaust manifold up with the flange off the cordia,
and a custom dump pipe.
how much power will be acheivable?
8-10psi sound right?
will just be using the standard carb.
whats the go with water injection? is it needed?

thanks

ewww standard carb? why?

get a 1.75" SU or a CD175 Stromberg.

Definately would get a different/bigger carb if your going to bother.

Be prepared for it to go bang if it isnt done properly, i.e dyno time etc.

My old suck through datto motor, same general idea:

yeah but a little harder to mount in a suck-through setup, as its been said though, use a 1.75 SU.

at 8psi you'll get around 100hp at the fly? it depends really.

SU should be close enough to free, get one off an old datsun zed or british car. For fuel just get a electric pump and run it to the carb with no return, as long as it doesnt fk the pump it will be sweet. I'm guessing you'll want a low pressure pump, but I'm not 100%.

acctually carb will be easy to get, dads mate,
so just a pump off an older efi car? early magna or something,
might just run it with a adj. fuel reg to be safe

nah don't need a reg, SU's work on vacuum I think so it will suck more fuel in if there is more vacuum...

^^^thats how carbies work.

I'm not sure but the bigger carb should supply enough fuel, with out needing an efi pump, an electric low pressure pump should do, as i said i'm not sure, search you'll come up with the info.

yeh, I think its something about how the SU works that means you don't need a reg. Because they don't have jets etc you don't have to up the pressure to increase fuel flow on boost... something like that?

ah k, I dunno much either lol, I'm an efi boy

They have dampers that you fill with different types of oil to get different effects

i looked into this a bit. and also posted in your thread.

DO NOT BUY EFI PUMP

you MIGHT need a LOW PRESSURE electric pump somewhere around 3-5psi? EFI pumps run at much higher pressure and will flood the carb, fuel reg might cure this though. but why bother?

also you need to look heavily into you ignition and timing. NA carby motors use vac adv for the timing, this could/would make the engine ping at high revs/on boost.

sidedraft is the only way to go IMO, easier to mount and will make better power. since the 4k is a 1.3L i'd try to find a craby jetted for ~2L since under boost it will be sucking through a lot of fuel. but it would most likely be a pig down low.

keep researching.....

the cars going to be mostly track so don't care if its abit of a pig off boost.
think ill just run the standard igntion for the start, to get it running,
then get a electronic ignition module from jaycar to get it running properly.
where would i get a low pressure pump from? ei what car that would be at the wreckers,
i have money to buy things but its only a shitter so don't really care lol.
and ill stick with an SU for the start, don't really want to spend money on this unless i have to.

yeah you'll want to disable the vacuum advance on the dizzy.
