View Full Version : tvis woes i think?

cars running but more problems now :(
when i drive it under 4000 rpm its fine but if i try to rev it over 4000 rpm its splutters and backfires and sometimes dies completly the car has recently been rebuilt if that makes a difference and yeah dunno wats goin on so any help appreciated

yeah I'm gonna borrow my mates timing light tomorrow and double check but my mechanic already did it for me so it should be right

thats what i though but if it runs fine when babying it and it only occurs when tvis is supposed to kick in so I'm not sure

Sounds like it breaks down under load, dizzy cap, rotor button, leads, plugs. Something like that. Check the timing, then look at the leads etc.
If you disconnect the tvis and keep it open, that should tell you if it's tvis. It doesn't really sound like it is though.

update checked timing with timing light and its perfect the car is running extremly rich and shoots out flames

i had a similar problem with mine. turned out to be the complete distributer being stuffed.. something inside it was cracked and was sending out two signals to the ecu and made it die after i reved it.
so yeah maybe borrow someones that you know works properly..
