I'm considering buying a set of Sportmax 513 (Banana sports) in 15 x 8 0 Offset in either Gunmetal or Black but was wondering if anyone on here has them on their car? If you do could you please post them up

Would any guard mods be needed to fit these onto a KE70? I'm running Corona xt130 LCAs/86 struts.

i wanna know how good these are, they sure do look the part!

I'm questioning the quality level for that price though...

After searching a little bit on here some people say they are a cheaper Taiwan/China wheel which I was expecting, but has anyone had any problems with them at all? I am leaning towards them because it is going to save me $300+ compared to the Jap wheels I was after.

Also what size tyres would give some nice stretch on these?

they should fit with 185 55's and a roll. go super lights over them but, they look way better and are a higher quality wheel

Yeh I like Superlights aswell but these have a nice amount of dish which is really what I'm after

the mk3 replicas look like mk3s lol!

as for the sportmax

look at a pair up close. Make an informed decision. I hate konigs and konigs are MUCH better than these

run 195/50s too

also the more DISH the less BACKSPACE an issue if you have large brakes

Those rims do look nice but personally I like the look of the sportmax better, but I don't know of anyone local that has a set so I can check them out in person..
These show a little bit more than the other photos but still not enough. What exactly is wrong with them in the flesh??

If th Rewinds came in a 8" than I would defaintly be interested but I doubt that is going to happen anytime soon.

Also I'm running ae86 ADM brakes and hilux drums in the rear so I don't think I'll have a clearance issue?

just search a few members rides threads. heaps of people running 15x8 superlights, i think the offset is -6 on those? biggos green car has them and he has both front and rear guards flared.

so a 0 offset is only 6mm less poke. i think youll be pushing it to fit them, depends how low your car is.. looks like you car is already painted.. didnt lip the guards before hand?

Yeh the car was already re-sprayed before I bought it but I have dodgily lipped my rear guards and was planning on a new paintjob with flares all round if needed. Car isn't overly low at the front but I'm planning on fixing that with either cutting the 8kg springs in there or getting some coilovers made up if I can afford it.

Yeh that is the same price I'm looking at them for. I realise they are a cheaper made wheel then the Konigs or Jap rims but they are a fair bit cheaper for that reason I'm guessing.
Can you tell me what it actually wrong with the finish on them? What problems they have etc. compared to a higher quality wheel?

the couple of sets ive seen the alloy in the lip looked like cheese, really grainy

they have 8 holes in them

are fake 2 piece

they look 'awkward' hard to explain

the rest of my argument against them is based on speculation, but from what i know, theyre made in a place youve never heard of while claiming to be American and the buy price on those wheels would be about 1/4 the cost of superlights etc. Huge mark ups on imported wheels...look at all the sydney and gold coast 'tyre stores'

each to their own

Cheers

Sportmax = junk, made in chiwan, just look at the price, you don't need to even investigate further really

Whats $300 bucks, save for another 2 weeks and buy some quality parts for your car to be proud of!

Of course they 'look' good tho, they are in a trade stand brand new with flashy lights on them and a freshly machined lip. Don't worry about dish, offset is what matters.

Even then, they still look ugly with their fat spokes IMO and all sportmax's ive seen have a really shitty finish.

Speak to Jay from BUddy Parts when his wheels come in, you'll get a nice set of jap rims for $1000, or buy superlights if thats your thing.

I think with these older fat/rounded spoke type wheels the price you pay also follows on with the look aswell.

wantanabes are hotter than superlights are hotter than rewinds are hotter than sm513.

To a degree you get a similar looking wheel for less money but I think you compromise both looks and quality. Find whatever middle ground you want with price vs. look, they're all better than stockers.

I've sent buddyparts numerous PM's and left msgs in his thread but haven't heard anything from him yet.. And Micknofx you make a good point.
I'll have to think about it and hopefully I find something a bit better quality without paying too much more.. And like I said if anyone knows of any please let me know :)

+1 on the superlites on Biggo's car. Have a look if you haven't, you might just get sold on them.
On superlite offsets, 15x8 come in -4 or +4 and they are the same wheel. Performance Wheels (or whatever they are called now) buy the castings as a -4 then machine 8mm off the hub face to get +4. In other words, you don't lose any dish between -4 and +4. They have a load rating of 875kg which is around twice most OEM requirements.
