Well, so the story is i got some new cams put in my car yesterday and it was running at around 800 - 1000 rpm which was normal, but then thismorning i started it up and it was running around 1500 - 2000...
Mind you it still needs a tune.
Anyone know what could be going on?
any help would be much appriciated!
Cheers,
Jordan.

mine used to do that every now an then but it didnt have cams. all it was was the tb spring wasnt strong enough to close it properly so a quick jab of the loud pedal an she'd drop down to about 800-1000..
but was your motor a little warm or cold after you put the cams in??

Mind you it still needs a tune.
id say that has a fair bit to do with it. but you say its varied with the tune staying the same.
the only way for an engine to change rev is to either let more air in, or for the ign timing to be advanced.
so id first start by checking the ign timing, but its more likely to be air getting let in somewhere. so id be checking for leaks anywhere, if you still have the coolant opperated idle up thing then maybe that is playing up? also maybe your tps is out of adjustment as well, as i know if i fiddle with mine the idle goes up and down etc.
