Haven't ever seen a topic like this, was wondering today...
What brand/type of engine oil do you guys run? And why?

To start off with my 4k I ran cooking oil, then I got a 4age just used a 20w50 cheapo for the first 200-300kms to flush n e shit that was in there from sitting around and replacing the sump gasket..

Then penrite 15w40, awesome oil that or mobil synth s 10w40 both great

Gearbox, castrol multitrax for the t-50

Haven't done my diff yet.

Umm castrol coolant and Mobil dot 4 fluid for breaks and clutch

15w40 magnatec

it's good, yet cheap enough that i can justify replacing it often

Durablend ftw

Street machine did a review of all the oils and the durablend did extremely well in there tests, did alot better than oils 2-3 times its price. Plus i get it for free from work :whistling: .

Only the royal purple stuff and the motul sin did real well on the tests, all the shell and mobil stuff epic failed bigtime.

Used Motul and Penrite in the 4AC before, both good, except the Penrite seemed to make the engine 'tighter', the performance was the same but it didn't feel as loose when you revved the crap out of it.

I've got Pennzoil in it now, its what my mechanic put in when I had it serviced. Feels OK, not too sure on how good it is for the engine. Its due to be changed in a couple of months, might move back to the Penrite when I change it.

magnatec is a big big no no, holds crap that should be falling to the bottom where you don't want it.

i just use penrite 20w 40 in my lux and rolla

penrite semi-syn 10w50 generally

tried castrol gtx 2 20w50 i reckon the engine ran better on this oil than the penrite

Penrite in anything worth money, or Royal purple as per street machine test

Durablend came up alright in said street machine test, all others were pretty much junk, even the $60+ Mobils, Valvolines, Castrols etc, etc.

BP in shitters.
