The Kiwi drift scene is soooo much more varied than our own. At a professional level anyway. I mean in D1NZ youve got Laurels, Cefiros, FD's, AE86's, where as here we are overcome with Silvia after fucken Silvia.

Turbosmart have just released a copy of a mazda rotor housing which allows 13b's to be bolted together.

Mazda originally made about 4000 when they had the 767b and since ran out, so expect to see more 4 rotors out there.

if that wheel company came to any of you with an offer to run their work without cost, you'd do it, i would too.

that said, i was more of a fan of the equips on that car. and am glad the 'fursty' plate is gone.

yes it is n/a

im not sure what you said about wheels, i tend to disagree, with his level of sponsorship he would be able to get a wheel sponsor pretty readily, id imagine those puppies are pretty weighty.

mike has always rolled with similar kind of wheels..sure he had his equips and they were pretty pimp, but he also rolled with random massive veilside and wed wheels....each person has a preference....he seemed to like them previously....maybe its the style he personally likes....they certainly seem to suit the image he protraits of himself

its the eccentric shaft, not the housing you need for the hybrid motors i always thought?

read some of his specs, refers to "short crank" i am assuming that means 1pc ecentric shaft (not 2pc like a 20b, which makes them a lil longer)

nothing about it on their site.

its not really new technology or ground breaking by the sounds.

Mate are you on drugs!? :whistling:

Maybe you're refering to the kiwiRE quad and tripple rotor kits that are available....
http://www.kiwi-re.com/wwd_showroom_cat10.php
Turbosmart doesn't make ANYTHING like this.

And you can't just bolt 2x 13b's together to make a 26b.

And as for 4000 26b's  yeah right......I'll take 3x!!!!

Sorry Taz_RX I should have done more research before writing.

The plate needed for the 26b appears to be the centre plate for the 20b which Mazda

apparently made 4000 for as spare parts but as these have or a near all gone

Turbosmart has made a new Billet Center plate for the 20b, hence allowing 26b's to be created.

Here is your evidence

Yeah, the 20b centre plate is wider, ie "long shaft" because it needs to have both inlet and exhaust ports on one of the centre housings, in a PP, you dont have side exit ports, so go with a "short shaft" reducing rotation weight etc etc of the eshaft, and use a standard 13b centre plate.

Mad mike's and i think nz's story i think is due to him/us doing whatever he/we damn well want/s.

He built the car only because he wanted to legally do skids really, so did it, then kept doing it, got good, and looked like every other dunedin/canterbury/nelson/hutt valley/taranaki/tauranga/whangerei rotor feind, so became popular in NZ.

We have a slightly different style because mainly of our super loose import and modification laws, so what he does is basically within reach of most legal age drivers (rather than a $200k r34 etc) so is idolised.

I think the media portrays him as a bit of a munter, but he isnt, ive drifted with him on the track, watched him drift, and basically he follow's no other, just does what he thinks is cool, and we respect that.

PS. if you think those weds are hideous, have you ever SEEN simmonds!

So what were they banned from? lets see...
787 got the arse because it was in a parity category, better governed by having only piston engines. In fact that pretty much goes for all the rotors.

GT-R wasn't banned from anywhere, Group A ceased to exist because nobody cared anymore, it was irrelevant and cost too much.

Funnily enough, the turbo F1 cars got the arse because of a combination of the two factors above, parity and cost...

Toyota were just too late to the party, if they didn't persist with tarted up group 4 style cars for so long, perhaps they might have had a decent shot at Group B. And in WRC they just flat out cheated.

See a pattern Beally?

driftke70

i admit there are numerous cars that have been dropped from regulation changes etc, but some are more class regulations, and others a specific chosen regs.

what you say above is in the most part true though.

Just a little rotary education, when you do skids in HP rotaz, you cant just plant it and do heli's (well you can if you are alright with a blown motor lol, or if its a drag car). In a rotor, you have to just keep the revs up by tapping the throttle (thus why it constantly builds up rpm and dies).
