View Full Version : My Retirement...
samuel
22nd September 2008, 12:36 AM
After 7 epic years, I am oficially retiring from the "online" Automotive community.
I am looking for someone to take the AE86DC admin reigns who has a serious passion for AE86s, shake the community the fuck up and get shit back on track here.
Don't bother PMing me if you own a KE70... The position will be given to an AE86 owner only, and to discriminate even more, they must be from Brisbane so I can have face to face contact before the handover
The position will be one of absolute power here, to hire and fire moderators as they see fit. To pull the website apart and rebuild it with the help of coders & designers. I will completely step to the side, demote myself to a "pleb member" and continue no further interest in the day to day running of the website (apart from the necessary financial obligations and of course any necessary webserver / webdesign work as comissioned and I will also continue to take care of the merchandise). This is not a transfer of ownership, but a transfer of administration.
I will only consider someone who has the bollocks to rally the community together and ACTIVELY FUCKING ORGANISE EVENTS IN ALL STATES or at least set up region mods or something like that.
Nominate your candidate now.
* Must be an active member
* Must be from Brisbane
* Must own an AE86
* Must have a pair of bollocks and willing to use them
* Must be community minded
* Must be Internet savvy (e.g able to organise and direct the webdesign team)
* Must agree to sit down with me and draft a new AE86DC "charter" and "policy" and "rules"
* Must be able to produce a "plan" of features to be added to the website.
Nominate a member now (you may not nominate yourself). This thread will remain open until midnight sunday the 28th of September 08. From there it will go to a public vote and we will see how well the democratic system works.
That is all

FWIW I don't think Gilly would go for it.
As for an explaination, I simply don't have the passion anymore.

but I'm not sure he would have the time for it, and he is a pretty easy going guy

It is subject to the nominated members agreeing to go to an "election". So they would have to agree to take it on. It won't just be dumped on someone
And as of tonight, all members (excluding Chris aka Atlas) will be unbanned and able to have an open dialogue.

Keating. He seems to go orright. Big shock though.
Leave the ban on that puerto rican nob. FUCK AWAY SIR FUCK AWAY. I can't even remember his name.
Just cause it is AE86 drivingclub. I think we all seem to forget that one. You ke70's are the parasites who latched on and got a free ride. :P Just kidding. Much love for the ae's and ke's.

yeah, thats a bit different though. the whole point of the change it seems is so theres someone who has a real passion for the cars, right now, in charge.
anyway i'm guessing this thread is is just for nominations? or Nick is it cool to discuss the whole scenario here too?

who is keating?
Are you sure this is the best way to go about it?
Someone like Gilly would be a great admin on this site but know for a fact they he wouldnt have enough time to do so.
I would imagine Dimitri is in the same boat.
kinda killing off alot of options with the whole QLD thing.
But if Mr. Keating is who i think it is then i vote him.

For the record, as a current moderator i will support anyone that gets the gig as site admin. Im here to help the community, no personal or hidden agendas here.

maybe there doesnt need to be a "head"
why not just have two three even four people, who look after the page on certain rules, where they cant just do shit willy nearly, or go against each other, discuss shit before they do anything brutal.
I think the need for regional mods is a necessity, almost more than stately.

ive always had very good dealings with keating and find him easy to get along with while being responsible and intelligent. He seems to be the only choice going atm... Gilly would be the goer for my money but he is way to busy, Dim is THE man when it comes to knowledge but again too busy and his enthusiasm for the interwebz geeks can be up and down :P

i must admit have been thinking about it since the topic started but for the above reasons it wouldn't be feasible.
big thanks to all that thought of me though :)
i think the best all rounder would be Keating based on the criteria Nick highlighted and hence has my vote/support.

After the hand-over, I will have no more to do with HOW the website runs or WHAT decisions get made. I am stepping down as the Admin / Decisionmaker...
I won't be "gone" as I will be taking over the merchandise and financial side of the business (e.g. webhosting & bills etc).
