Gday, I have a 20v ST w/ microtech running x4 ignition + 4 coils and want to wire up some 1zz Coil on Plugs. Can anyone help with some info on changing my wiring or point me in the right direction pls?

Apologies, I found it its available here:

http://s-86.com/s-coilpacks.html

I presume the wiring is more involved than I first thought as my engine is setup with an ignitor (microtech X4), but the coils already have ignitors. My guess is that the x4 ignition needs to be deleted and new wiring done for the coils?

Thanx for yr help Anthony, please excuse my ignorance but I presume the ecu (Microtech) may need to have settings changed to suit the coils?

No it should be fine. whatever dwell its on will suit. assuming its a "toyota" type of microtech.

Yes you will need to get rid of the "x4". whatever trigger wires went in to it now go straight to the coils. Not too hard.

crude website that one,

what you do is disconnect your existing ignitors and run the signal wires directly to the coilpacks. So do you need a coilpack adapter plate?

bumping up old thread as im getting the same problem but i seem to get my car started up.

here is what i've done :

grey/red ----> yellow ----> coilpack1 (cyl1)
grey/black ----> orange ----> coilpack2 (cyl2)
grey/green ----> yellow/black ----> coilpack3 (cyl3)
grey/white ----> orange/black ----> coilpack4 (cyl4)

AND ACCORDING TO SAMQ SITE

pin1 ---> earth
pin2 --->trigger
pin3 ---> feedback? i dont know where that goes
pin4 --->12v

the car cranks but does not start. just cranks and pops from exhuast

What ECU?

is your pin 1, pin 2, etc looking into plug from behind or in front?

Did the engine have 4 coils on it before and you're just switching out to denso coils or was it single/double coil? ie is it cinfig'ed for 4 coils?

What is the dwell time?

The feedback wire doesn't need to go anywhere.

same as OP. microtech lt10s with x4 box. i just wired back to the x4 box and it fires up so must be something else.im using 1zz coilpack, its a 4 COP. it was wired up to run individual bosch coil pack which qorked fine but wanted to run COP for a neater finish. im guessing the ecu was set to run the individual coil packs so do i have to access it and change the setting. im a beginner with aftermarket ecu as this is my first setup

i dont know what the dwell time are. how do i check

I Finally got round to fitting mine.

1ZZ w/ Microtech (no ignitor box obviously)

Dwell 2.5ms (was 3.5 for original bosch coils)

Wired via firing order (1342) - NOT cylinder order (1234)

grey/red ----> coilpack1 (cyl1)
grey/black ----> coilpack3 (cyl3)
grey/green ----> coilpack4 (cyl4)
grey/white ----> coilpack2 (cyl2)
