Car - ae86

motor - 4age 16v

use - driving

problem - wont start

I posted a thread a while ago about swapping from a 20v to 16v. Now I have done the swap, but cant get the new engine started.
The microtech was running the 20v fine, and the 16v was running fine before being swapped over.
I have checked the dizzy wiring to the microtech. This is the only part of the wiring which I have had to change, everything else has been kept as it was.

The engine will crank, but doesnt even seem to try to start. How do I make sure the dizzy timing is set correctly?
I will need to double check it is getting spark tomorrow.

It is definately getting fuel, I could tell by the spark plugs being wet. I have set the fuel pressure to roughly 48psi(3kg/cm^2).

Any idea on where to start?

Do the basics:
- Check if there is spark
- Check timing with a timing light
- Check power and earth to injectors, coil, ignitor, ECU, etc, etc

Hopefully it's just something silly you forgot to hook up.

But it could also be the Microtech setup. Are you sure all settings are correct?

Will check spark tomorrow. Im thinking maybe Ive set the dizzy timing wrong, or the wrong wires are connected for the CAS..

Also, nothing was disconnected except for dizzy, tps, water temp and engine earth. Everything else was left as it was on the 20v.

Im waiting for my laptop connector so I can check the microtech settings. But the 20v was running perfectly before, so I dont see what could have changed since then?

Ok all figured, thanks for your help.

I searched a whole bunch of forums on how to set the TDC. I realised my cams had the locating pins in the wrong spot, so moved them to match the stock ones and it came to life!
