I need to know the length and thread size of the head bolts for a blacktop 20 valve. I think they are M10 or around that? Also what special requirements do head bolts need? I'm thinking about just going to coventry fasteners or united fasteners and getting some high tensile bolts the correct sizes with torx heads.

Failing that, can anyone point me in the right direction to get some new ones? I cant really afford ARP head studs and I would like to go pick them up asap and not have to wait heh heh, I want the BT in the 86 by this weekend!

cheers guys

Why dont you just buy new genuine one's for the 20V then? they are not that expensive.

When i called my local toyota, it was cheaper to buy ARP studs from america than it was to buy the toyota bolts :oh:

Hmm,

In NZ here a set of Toyota 20V head studs are about $40 a set, ARP are $200ish.

toyota 20v 4age Blacktop genuine head bolts are $25 each from toyota. arp head studs as mentioned $147 inc postage.
This price is correct as of 2 weeks ago from CMI toyota Adelaide.
I purchased several other parts at the same and received a fantastic price.
I find it hard to believe that they are $40 for a full set. 4e headbolts are $4 ea. not 4a.

That's why they are cheaper than I have seen. I need cylinder head studs not main studs

Yeah but they are 16 valve studs. I need only half of them. Which means I would have to buy two kits.

Bolts are $13USD each at amayama.

There are 2 sets of ARP head studs for toyota 20v on ebay at the moment, both at 170USD.

I suggest you get the ARP stuff. Spewing I cheaped out and put regular tty bolts in the SR. I wanna tear it down again but it's another 15 bucks or do it right this time and buy the studs. FFUUUU, now I wanna buy head studs. and main studs.

Hmm, been a while since I did the toyota studs.

Checked with my parts man at the dealership today.

Last time I bought genuine Toyota 20V headstuds, I paid $3.34 per headstud, so $34 for a set. That was almost 2 years ago.
Today's price is way higher, but can get them for $16 per stud so $160,
and ordered a ARP 20V set last week which should arrive next week for just over $180.
All prices in $NZD so is slightly less in $AUD

My problems are solved! Paradise racing in the states do a 20v head stud kit for $140 usd. The guy that runs it though isn't the most diligent with email replies.

Sounds good, but I would just make sure that it is a 20V kit not a 16V kit as a lot of the suppliers I tried just tried to sell a "4AGE head stud kit" which is of course a 16V kit.
May pay to make sure it is not just a 203-4203 kit for the 16V.

Yeah I've had the same problem. They have had the kit made for them so all should be good. Just waiting for the delivery now!
