This is probably noobish but last time i replaced a gasket was years ago on a 3Y.

Anyway I need to replace the inlet manifold gasket on the 4K as the current one is leaking. I have got all the parts and tools ready I just want to make sure to do this its just as simple as remove inlet and exhaust manifold, clean the old gasket off both surfaces then simply put the new gasket on and bolt her all up.

cheers.

when i do the manifold and exhaust gaskets i usually just clean it up and use high temp rated gasket goop. also ive been told, grab new gaskets and use gasket goop on both sides of the gasket when bolting it back together

im sure there will be nay sayers but ive never had any problems long term with leaking gaskets

4k manifold gasket is one of THE MOST ANNOYING JOBS I HAVE EVER HAD TO DO.....both times....

but you have it pretty much, youll need to undo the exhast flange that is near the manifold, and take both manifolds off at once (they are joined together). clean it up good,

it really is very frustrating putting it backtogether, its a bit easier if you have a mate helping you.

the reason being that the gaskets are 2 peice (ive heard a rumour you can get a one peice from somewhere, but dunno where) , so you just get a bolt in, and then the bloody thing swings down on you.

its do-able though, just dont cross thread any bolts as its VERY easy to do if you have the weight of the manifold on it.

Get a one-piece! That whole 2piece idea was crap!
