Wow, with a bit of luck no one was killed. Along with the poor bastards collected I feel empathy for the driver. Not entirely the wisest thing sitting so close to a track without a barrier.

Looked like the driver getting carted off by the cops at the end. That's pretty fucked, should arrest the fucking organisers.

Stupid people should have been away from track or atleast behind a barrier further away.

Fuck the organisers over.... they are responsible for ALL safety on events like that

Holy crap! You would think with the lack of barriers there would at least be "no standing zones" - it was pretty forseeable that that might happen

y would the the officials make him wear a helmet and let the them stand there so close

it was kinda like that when there was drifting at PT Gawler, the cars would get really close to the ppl watching, thats why they have no more drift days there, cant get insurance

"An automobile colided with a crowd of people during a drifting event at Dogsciu Airport. 8 people were injured, according to preliminary information they were all over 18 years old from Vilnius (Capital of Lithuania). The accident happened when the Number 18 cars, a Nissan 180SX, driver finished the course and while traveling to the parking area lost control. Championship organizer Tomas Gruzdys says that the driver most likely did not select a safe speed and hit a crowd of spectators.

Organizer speaking:
The drivers are suppose to slow down to a set speed while traveling to the parking area after finishing the course.
Journalist:
Could you show us where the finish is?
Organizer:
The finish is over there at the 50 meter mark, the driver colided with the spectators about 100 meters that way.
Journalist:
So people and other vehicles were allowed to be in this area?
Organzer:
Umm, yes... technically they were allowed to be here. The only place they were not allowed was over there by the finish line.

The medics that arrived to the accident scene transported all of the injured to the Kedainiu hospital. 2 of the inujured are currently being treated in the ER, while the others are in the trauma center. One of the injured was transported to the Clinic of the Medical University of Kaunas so he can have a head CT scan done but his life is not in danger. The family of 2 others brought them to the capitals Santarisciu hospital. The injured have been diagnosed with broken bones, head trauma, concussions... the doctors will have to operate on some of the injured. According to preliminary information the driver of the 180SX that injured the spectators is not injured himself. After the accident the drifting event was cancelled and the car was transported to Vilnaus police department after all police work had concluded.

Alot of drift events though you see the drivers drift past the finish line for a fair bit..

Either way i wouldnt have wanted those people standing on a stretch of track with no barriers, and that close.
