coolant flowage?

just did the headgasket on my trueno and after all was done filled it up with water to clean out the coolant lines etc (they were very clean) but noticed the water was not flowing when i peered down into the radiator even though it was up to temp so bought a new thermostat and coolant let it idle for 30 mins still nothing then put the cap on and went for 10-15 min ''spirited'' drive and still nothing. was just wondering are you meant to see it flow? im pretty sure you are

see if the thermastat is actually open, feel the top hose and bottom, if its closed one will be hot as and the other will still be cold, if there both not hot the thermastat isnt open and thats why you wont see it flowing
