External Vs internal......

Just wondering about lift pumps. I have used internal ones a few time before, but I thought I would ask about EXTERNAL type....

There is a setup on ebay, Australian made product...... This particular one comes with the EXTERNAL lift pump. Would this be sufficient for a stock 20v? (in KE70 track car) Would be using a Bosch main pump (either 044 or 910)

thanks

i use what appears to be the exact same as mine(appears not mine a 4-8 PSI), and i have no issue's, but i only got N/a Bp 16 valve
as the add says its jsut a 4-5 psi pump (would use on a carby) that you can pick up from a local auto store for like 70 bucks if that

do you have a part number for it? what about noise level?

I've found that usually those shaped little Facet low pressure pumps are loud as!

Wasn't really too concerned about it's noise level, as it is going into a fully stripped out TRACK car. More wanting to know if it would be up to the task of fuel delivery.....

in the big scheme of things a stock 20V, even at full noise, uses bugger all petrol.

go internal, nice and quiet and forget about it. one less thing to be mounted outside the tank.

ive tried both those facet style pumps, and the internal pump (i used a stocko commondore internal pump). the internal pump was far superiour. silent, worked well.

the facet pump never shut up, and sounded aweful.

*in general* pumps prefer to push fluid than try and suck it up, so my theroy is to make sure the pump has to suck as little as possible, thus intank wins.

I agree with Dave. I have just replaced my second external lift pump with a VL Commodore intake pump following this guide

http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Tech:Engine/A_Series/Installing_EFI_Lifter_Pump_into_AE86_Fuel_Tank and it is brilliant.

Pump cost me $80 from Autobarn and it is quiet and pumps a lot more than the Goss external unit I had previously.

It used to tap away like a diaphragm pump and even when insulated from the chassis with rubber you could feel it there.

Very happy with the new setup, followed the guide using intank rated wiring and the sealed plug installed through the tank plate.

did you use new wiring or did you get the vl wiring from the wreckers?

I used the cable from the Commodore intake pump and cradle.

It was actually from a later model VN or VP but it had the same wiring and removable cable grommet, the cable is plenty long enough for the modified ADM pickup/pump.

I ripped apart many Japanese EFI cars at the wreckers and none of them had parts I could easily reuse.
