Hey guys, recently got my 16v 4age into my ae71 and have got it all running, I decided I want carbs and therefor did the necessary lol.

Problem is:

We have got the cams and ignition + carbs tuned well enough to idle and run now, but randomly when idling and also while driving the car, my tacho will just drop to 0, and the engine is dead. I found out while it died on idle, if I try to crank if from the ignition position, it won't fire.. But if I turn the ignition off then back on car will fire straight away again.. And also, while driving when it dies, if I turn it off ignition and back into ignition the engine starts running again!

I have bought and wired a HyperPak ignition computer to run on the standard electronic dizzy and we were suspect about that.. we checked the timing with a timing light and the timing was FLOATING? We had it set at around 15 degrees static as that was what was listed on the hyperpak instructions and it would move each time it fired maybe 2-3 degrees either side of the mark..

Would anyone have any info on the hyperpak? Have some of them been faulty? Could this just be the hyperpak? Kinda worried.. lol

Thanks for any info!
