xe7x Diff into ae86

Been reading up on diff options and read a few posts stating that the rear end in the e7's were stronger. Was going to run a locker for a while and see what it's like before forking out lots of $$$ for a t series + lsd, plus if it breaks they would be dirt cheap for a new one.

Are they stronger? Is this a viable and are there any downsides? Any other options if I want a stronger rear end that will bolt straight up? What ratio's do they come in? Is the track the same?

I don't suppose the drums/hubs are interchangeable between k, s and t series?

Going to weld my s series at the end of the semester and give it a go. Just looking at my options if it lets go.

To change it over I would need an e7 rear end(Do they come in anything else?) and an ae71 tailshaft?

they bolt in, however they aren't any stronger, i'm pretty sure the borg warner axles are smaller again than the s series, maybe it's worth looking into buying something like a t-18 diff and just rocking that welded until you can afford to drop an lsd into it

from what i heard, borgy axles are the strongest, tho you wouldnt bother putting it into an 86, just get a t series

the fact remains though that they can be snapped behind a 4k, good if you can't find something in between, but certainly not any form of upgrade

Took me 6 months to break one behind my 20v and button clutch. Putting another one in this week. Too cheap to even care if you break one.

i put one into my ae86 for rwc, just need the complete diff/housing and ae71 manual/t50 tailshaft.

at the end of the day they are both crap, and the t series isn't much better anyways... if ur going to thrash it be ready to repair/replace it lol

As the *E7* rear axle can bolt into an AE86, is it safe to assume that one can be used for it's diff mounts in a YR22 rear axle conversion?

Pretty much sums up my reasoning. Even if they aren't much stronger, going to be alot cheaper to replace and alot easier to find.

What ratio's do they come in and do they only come in Ke70/ae71's?

Also why t series over s if its just going to be welded? Seems that they usually break at the axle splines, which are the same as s series anyway?

Thought T series had larger axels? 3.9 from manual ke70 and 4.1 from auto ke70, same ratio for ae71's but ae71's have a slightly larger drum.
You can also get borg warner diffs from older coronas and some of which come with disc brakes, but im not too sure how they go bolting into an ae86.

4.1 would be nice, typed in it in google and some people seemed to think there was a 4.3, maybe the panel van?
