but bad things normally just mean i can go bigger better and do it properly!
as for a shell i started hunting and what i found is a beaut...
now dont go all getting jelly cos if you hunt you will find :cool:

so now for a few little specs on the car

1982 KE70..
4KC motor
automatic trans :verysad:
working air conditioner :DD and boi does it work
(now for a killer little bit of info)
this car only has 118,500 kms on the clock:omg: (im making myself jelly just writing the start of this thread)
all original owners hand manuals and service information. original purchase papers included :)
mint condition VYNL seats :) perfect carpet with no stains!!!!
original spare wheel.. looks like the rim has rusted itself in haha and original carpet to cover the boot floor

the only negative points on this car are the small dents here and there from usual wear and tear of a vehicle this age! and the rust spots in the common points (bottom of rear guards bottom of fuel door and the tiniest little spot under the boot lid) and a few little scarpes.. easy enough fixed with the right knowlege and patience

so future plans are to strip the motor and engine bay pull the 4AGTE out of my old car and clean it up and put her in the new beast.. so this mean converting it to manual with as little as firewall destruction as possible.. setting up fuel systems
upgrade to RX7 front brakes and coilovers on the front.. i dont want to lower too much as i dont want to draw unnesscary attention to myself!!

:Sthis will also mean making a custom exhaust with a flow control type device (not to sure what to call it) but basically so i can have the exhaust run through a slighty standard system with only a small note but then when i flick the switch it will block this route diverting it though a side pipe giving a nice loud note!!

will also have to upgrade the diff from standard.. no i dont want to just weld.. as much fun as locked diffs are they can getting annoying for daily use.. there for i want a nice tight LSD either an R31 upgrade with VS caliper brakes or just go for a t series??

so no real updates on this been running nicely until the last few days in the hot weather and driving any forther then work she starts missing abit and couching and spluttering.. not to concerned just been driving dads torana around the last day or two.. but registration runs out friday and will get my calais finished this weekend so the new corolla will take centre stage in the carport and slowly start stripping it!!!

get my next tool bonus in the next few weeks so will get an engine crane and a few other tools i need for the job!!

really starting to miss the power and enjoyment i had just driving the old one :(

Not sure yet pal thinking I might take the standard motor from the red on and put it in and get a 4spd or 5spd gear box and slowly change thigs back to standard and eventually try and get it off defect! And then my parents can buy it off me for my sisters first car... Or once I've stripped it I'll scrap it and anything I don't want I'll sell

So haven't done much lately been busy with work and other interests and trying to get my Calais painted.. Which is all done now.. Thank god!!!
Having the Calais painted means a car for me to drive and a spot to start stripping cars :)
So late on aus day I loved all the shit from being my red rocket and got her into the car port..

Got home from work this afternoon and started to strip it down.. Removed tailshaft coolant disconnected just about everything except my air on pipes..
Hopefully pull the 4k out Sunday.. Too busy tmrw to touch the corolla.. Once I get the engine out I'll start tidying the bay up and moving bits and pieces over before I put the 4agte in..

Also now that the Calais is on the road in a week or two I will put it up for sale and hopefully this will fund a few suspension mods and brake upgrades :D

motor came out today... finally.. haha then i took a break and lost motivation.. sorta played around and investigated the best way to swap my pedal boxes over..
but i need to drop my cross member out and pull the exhaust out.. then rip the $age out of my blue corolla and swap crossmembers over.. then i can actually get to the clutch and all the small things that will need to be swapped over.. got work this week and a mate comes down from QLD so probs wont get to much done while his here but i got the week off of work after that so hopefully should get a fair chunk done then :D getting excited

Well it's Friday afternoon.. Holidays start now so I'll party this weekend and then the next two weeks will be spent working hard on the cars :) should hopefully make some good progress!!

Now time to start swapping everything over.. Hopefully engine will be in by end of next week and then will just need to re wire everything

So got a bit done over the weekend and today
Pedal box is over and bolted in clutch master cylinder has been cleaned up repainted and bolted in
Cross member
And steering rack is bolted in.. Have a bit of a problem though as I'm only running standard lower control arms and the steering rack has a lock spacer in it.. I can get one wheel pointing forward but the other is at full lock pointing in.. Any ideas guys? I've tried adjusting it as much as I can on that side but it's no better

Also got my inter cooler mounted in and oil cooler is mounted!

Need to go over everything over the next few days and make sure it's all tight and clean up the engine bay!!
Hopefully drop the motor in on Friday and hopefully have it running by Sunday!!

Motor is all in wirings all done just a few little electrical gremlins and now it's all the small fiddly stuff that needs to be done.. Mounting the battery and mount gauges.. Still need to order a new radiator etc etc.

So been a while since I've done an update but motor is in and running and doing everything it's meant to be doing :)

Just need to sort out suspension...
At the moment I'm running sigma LCAs but it's just too much track for me so I need to get my hands on some XT130s.. So if anybody is wanting to swap from xt130s to sigma LCAs let me know or if you know of some up for sale send me a link.. I keep my eyes out as much as possible but not always quick enough :(

And then I'll be needing to organize some coil overs and ae86 hubs for the brake upgrade

And there is always more work to do in between.. So while I'm hunting and searching for stuff I'll be doing some cosmetic upgradesand a good cut and polish.. Fix up some rust etc etc.

New radiator arrived today from the land of US took just over a week!! Pretty happy with that!
Can't wait to get it in and wired up!! Massive coolant flush will be happening so she should run cool as a dream :)

No real updates lately back at work, had futures and clipsal and trade school an heaps of shit going in lately.. Got my radiator and thermo fans mounted. Still need to wire up thermos, mount ecu, mount boost gauge, sort out suspension.. Redo fuel lines for surge tank.. The list goes on and on haha
Everytimr I cross something off I add another three things to the list

Got some XT130 LCAs today.. Problem.. They don't fit.. They bolt into my cross member everything bolts to the .. Except my struts!! FML
Problem being the stud/bolt in the middle is to high and won't allow the strut to sit even and bolt down...
What to do? Any suggestions?

lately its all just one problem after another.. as soon as i think im getting somewhere and sort out one problem.. something else goes wrong :(

so car is all set up ready to be rolled out of the car port and onto the front yard so i could do an oil change coolant flush etc etc...
and bam ECU decides to fry it self.. many hours wer spent checking every wire and every connections and every ground and my voltage draws etc etc. still it wont play the game.. so after much cursing and angryness and yelling and taking my frustration out drinking beer...

i am in the market for a new ECU.. time to get my research hat on again i guess.. whats good.. what are people using on similar engine setups.. by that i mean 4AGTE 16V, what do people recommend? where should i start looking?
was thinking of looking at another microtech? whats similar that would do the same job if not better. the cars main use will be for a daily ride but i would like to do the occasional track day grip/drift and get in to motorkhana and generally just have some fun in the vehicle..

So cars been to the tune shop and got her back running. It's registered and I'm driving it around now! Still a few little issues I need to sort out.. Speedo not working.. Stalling on idle when headlights are turned on.. But just a few minor things..

Had a muffler fitted and screamer pipe plumbed back in to the main exhaust system to make the car quieter.

Still need to fit front coilovers and ADM 86 brakes that I got a month or so ago.. Needs 440 cc injectors and then I can get a full Dyno done in the car

And I also picked up last night a rear louvre that has been cut..

So few things to do still then I can't wait to get into some hill climb events and motorkhana and maybe even some drift days!!!

Had an awesome day out at tailem bend today! Car started misfiring and surging at the end of the day! Starter motor wouldn't kick over all day either so need to have a look at that over the next few weeks and look at redoing my wiring!
Other then that the car was great all day!

Softened the dampers right up and lowered the tyre pressures which made a huge difference to the handling! Can't wait to get back out on the track!!

Ps go pro didn't work today! Blasted thing just would not turn! So yet again no footage :(

not much has happened lately, made up some rails last weekend for my new Velo GP90 seat just need to bolt that in now and adjust my hydro set up as the seat and hydro are touching each other.
started pulling some wiring apart tonight to look at this starter motor issue. going to look at it and ponder the problem a bit more tomorrow and look at making up some rails for the old bucket seat to go into the passengers side.

a mate of mine is looking at organizing a private day out at tailem bend late october so will aim to get back on the track then and hopefully get some footage!!

Crossed the line on my last run on the Sunday and cylinder 3 and 4 rings let go I stripped it all down and it's still waiting on parts like 8 months later!
My excuse is that I went the snow for the season and partied to hard and have no money!!
