so yesterday i was driving my ae86with a 4ac. when all of a sudden i started to lost power, id be driving and there would be like absolutely no power and the car would jerk, then 3 seconds later, with my foot a bit flatter to the floor, it would take off like normal only to start dying as soon as my accelerator changed. at first it felt like a fuel pump problem, but being a 4ac there isnt a fuel pump. carby is most probably fucked.

in neutral the car reved fine but as soon as clutch was out, it was almost like the applying accellerator actually decreased the revs and if i didnt rapidly tap the accellerator, it would stall. it happend all yesterday, even after leaving the car off for few hours. then this morning, it ran PERFECTLY. anybody help me?

regards, khai

4ac do have fuel pump but it would be mechanical, carby may need a clean out, check fuel filter could be blocked

Kind of sounds similar to my 86's 4ac problem, I noticed driving on load (hills exc) there would be power loss even though the rev range was the same and the incline was the same. a friend told me that apparently 4ac's are known for timing belt flex after wear/age, and when these timing belts are on load they tend to pull on your camshaft in all different ways, causing all sorts of problems!
