Vehicle: 1982 Toyota Corolla Ke70.

Part in question: Boot. (Pictures Attached)

Problem: Rust has eaten out the metal ridged (My best attempt at naming this) area that the rubber boot liner sits on, the ridge has not completely rusted out, there is still a few areas where it is in perfect condition.

Situation: Ok so im wanting to repair the ridge so that I can return the Rubber boot liner to its original spot to stop water entering my boot, and im wanting to know whats the best way to do this? What has worked for you? The do's and don'ts...

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks - Chris.

Might want to give it more than a few minutes before bumping it champ...

Easiest way is to cut a section out of another boot and weld it in.

I forgot to say that i can see bubbles under the 4th pic so you may as well get a grinder and do it all a once

Agreed wiTh the above , you'll want to chase it to see just how far it go's ..

Step one - wire wheel on a grinder take it all back to bare metal from your beaver panel around your lights all the way around your boot lid lip and rear window .

Apparently with ke's it's a trend to just fill the rust with body filler not treat it and sell it on luckily body filler retains water and helps rust it out even more ...

I myself just found this on what I thought was a really straight ke so I've re shelled and started fresh .

Alternatively you can cut and weld sections from another car or if youre really skilled fab it out of sheet .

But considering youre asking on here I'd say you've probably never taken on a job like that ...

Good luck with it either way it is a tedious job
