Ok people, somebody help please...
Car: Ae86
Engine: beams
Computer: Adaptronic
Problem:
After sitting in the garage for a month or so I decided to start it just to keep it ticking over.
After flicking the switch that kills the fuel pumps, I turned on the ignition.
Lights lit up, fuel pumps kicked in, all good.
Cranked her over and it started no problems.
After idling for about 5 seconds it just died. I turned the key again and it started cranking but never came to life.
I turned the key all the way back and then back to ignition and noticed that the fuel pumps weren't turning on.
Straight away I thought that the kill switch for the pumps was faulty so I removed it and joined the two wires together. Back to ignition and still no pumps.
Then I checked all the fuses. All good.
Checked the relays. All good.
Next thing I thought was that the fuel pumps have shat themselves, so I gave the external one power from a battery and it buzzed. Removed the fuel tank and checked the internal and that buzzed too.
I had a friend come past and play with the wiring from the fuel pump relays, and made the pumps turn on when the ignition is on BUT if the key was turned to the ignition and left there the pumps just stayed on which isn't what used to happen. It used to prime itself and then they (fuel pumps) would turn off until you started the car.
Anyway even with the pumps wired in this way that they stayed on, the car doesn't want to start.
I am not very electrically savvy, in fact I hate electrics and never touch em, but something tells me that there might be something wrong with the computer or some shit.
So yea. If you have had a problem like this or know what the problem might be please let me know before I take it to somebody that does.
Thanks in advance
David
