External gate, what to choose, Fake or real, China or branded

Hey guys, looking to get a 38mm external gate, saw this turbosmart one and kinda unsure if its real or fake

First off want to find out if its a big deal to run a fake if it is a fake, and secondly to find out what waste gates people are running in their turbo setups. Anyone found a cheapish/safe solution?
Really don't want to have to spend $500....

turbosmart is a huuuge company for such a little outfit, and is really popular overseas. I have used quite a few china gates over the last yr or so, and honestly the type i was using I had one jam open, the rest were pretty flawless, but they didn't sound very good. These weren't the turbosmart ones though, these had a polished dome top, with little 4 bolt flanges. I wouldn't use one on my own car though.

pretty sure the turbo smart gates off ebay are good quality i had one on my car although i never ran the car more than idle or reving beyond 2krpm didnt leak

Don't be a dam cheap bastard! I've seen a heap of these rubbish china gates seize up, jam shut.
A single component that is such a critical one, I really can't believe it's a consideration.

Don't buy it.
Buy a Tial or turbo smart or any other genuine product

There was a bunch of guys on PF saying that some of the china gates work fine when you clean them up but unless you have over boost protection on the ECU, I wouldn't do it.

I personally have a TiAL and that's saying a lot since I try to spend like no money on the car at all. Then again, if I had an adaptronic with boost cut, I probably would take the gamble.

Lol im not that much of a dumbarse, what i was asking is if that price (was $200 bucks) was too good to be true for a turbosmart (on the turbosmart site they go for $500), but seeing as tial is cheap ill get one of those.

You've never heard of tougefactory? They don't sell knock off wheels or knock off gates.

The 500 you quoted is a lot but the 250 I found was cheaper than I was expecting. They're normally around 300 for a 38mm but it's been a year or so since I was looking at gates.

I might sell my unused f38 if you can talk me into it. I wanna swap to an mv-s for no reason.

I have but I've never bought from them and didnt know if it was genuine or not (same issue i was having with the turbosmart, not sure if its too good to be true). But yeah if its genuine, its in the price range i was prepared to pay so ill just go for that. Problem solved! Thanks for your help mate!
